blade782 Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 I am having a problem where i start of normally, take off and about 5-10 mins into a flight the a10 starts to bank left or right hard all of the sudden. I have a saitek x52 pro and ive tried to go into profile to see if any axis are acting up as its happening and nothing, also checked all key bindings for any weird axis assigned, also nothing, no really sure whats going on, is my joystick going bad? Also if i leave server and joing another or start another flight it returns to normal and starts again about 10 mins into the flight

blade782 Posted April 21, 2012 Author Posted April 21, 2012 yes ofcourse, ive tried trimming, and reseting trim back to take off, still banks by it self

cichlidfan Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 The next suggestion I would have is to rename your saved games config folder (C:\Users\<yourname>\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\Config) so a new set of control configs is created when you restart. superfluid Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 I also have an Saitek X52 Pro. Something I have noticed is that after an "extended" play sessions, say if I am in a mission for over an hour or so, the aircraft will start to ascend or descend, sharply, often seemingly at random. At first I though I thought it was something I was doing wrong during the mission and the game was simulating some damage to the plane, for example: going into a steep dive, which maybe was "damaging" the plane's elevator in some way. Trimming would have no effect on these massive spikes I was experiencing on the vertical axis. Honestly, even though I'm sad to admit it, the X52 is overpriced for what it is: a very shoddily built HOTAS with poor quality control. I get that flight-sims enthusiasts are a niche demographic, but seriously... I spent over $200 Canadian for this controller, the stick does not move linearly; often, due to friction it sticks and unsticks, making banking and maneuvering jumpy and the mini-stick drifts all over the place. The whole system consistently causes my computer to blue-screen when I plug or unplug the USB cable. But at the end of the day, what recourse do I really have? Spend another $400 more on the Warthog? Sigh.... i5 2500K | MSI GeForce GTX 580 Twin Frozr II | Corsair H100 Cooler | 16GB RAM | Patriot 120GB SSD | Freetrack 3pt Clip | Saitek X52 Pro
cichlidfan Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 I just remembered this. When mine was new the cable between the two units was bad. It drove me crazy until I figured out where the problem was. I had flashing lights sometimes as well as unintended input. I replaced mine with a ps2-ps2 cable that is normally used with an old-school kvm switch. It cost about $5 IIRC. EDIT: The only issue is that kvm cables are usually long, mine is 6 feet. But it worked until I retired it for the Warthog. Phantom453 Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Do you have any other controllers plugged in other than your X52, like a game pad or steering wheel? If you do, you should try unplugging them. I had the X52 Pro for many years. I really enjoyed them, but I just couldn't crack AAR, no matter what I tried. Never managed more than half a tank in one go. I got the TM warthog for Christmas and never looked back. Got my first "Transfer Complete" that day! Expensive, but worth it IMHO.
RPY Variable Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 I have the X52 two, is a joystick problem. Is the Plug from the joystick to the throttle that disconnects and reconnects, and when it does it gets descalibrated, the axis center changes. I solve it cutting the plug and welding the wires directly inside the throttle, now it works great! no more problems. Is is a very annoying thing. I used the memphisbelle's profile for the x-52 pro and when i pressed tms left short the aircraft started a roll to left. After i have tried to use only the combination key for tms and the problem where aren't, it wasn't a problem of the simulator... So, i',ve created a new profile inspirated by memphisbelle's profile and now i use the a-10 without problems. If you would like to have my profile send me a pm :) Bye! WildBillKelsoe Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Maybe you already have looked into this, but it never hurts to ask: are you trimming the aircraft? The A-10 needs constant trimming, every change in speed and altitude affects that. Also weapon release.. It's not auto-trimming like a 737. You have to do it as above. Also, if you're using asymmetrical payloads, consider trimming the rudder to the opposite of the trimmed side.
