SimHog Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 (edited) Hi All, Not sure if this is an issue with World or P-51D. I've got a triple screen setup (Eyefinity) and when setting the resolution to full (5760 x 1080) the simulation and CCC (12.1) crashes. Everything works fine when using a single display. World is always able to return to the main menu but the simulation stage always crashes and I need to reboot to get CCC working again. EDIT: Updating to CAT 12.4 has fixed the issue. PeterP Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 (edited) Eyefinity and DCS-World runs fine on my end. Check your in-game-options: Make sure you selected the right resolution your system supports in the Options-menu of DCS. The Simulation is not able to detect the Res you have - you have to tell DCS in what Res you want to run the simulation-part. If the resolution is for whatever reason not selectable - use this instruction: Fix: adding a custom resolution to in-game options. Edited May 2, 2012 by PeterP
SimHog Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 Thanks PeterP. I thought I had it fixed after installing the CAT 12.4 drivers, and then going through the cocpit familiarisation mission without any issues. But I spoke (posted) too soon. I'm now getting a bright green screen that comes and goes randomly and 3D objects (buildings, parked aircraft etc.) appearing and then disappearing. Plus I've only just noticed that I get a Low Memory warning from Windows when running the sim. As far as I can tell my memory is fine, I do a lot dev work on huge databases on this PC with multiple apps opened when working, and the graphic cards are at normal temps, plus I haven't overclocked anything. Going to look for the crash log AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D @4.2Ghz | MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk | ADATA XPG 64GB 6000MHz CL30 DDR5 | Team Cardea A440 Pro M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD 2TB | Sapphire NITRO+ RX 7900 XTX Vapor-X| PIMAX Crystal Light
PeterP Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Please post a DxDiag.txt - so we have a better look at your specifications. WindowsStart > Type "DxDiag" > save the TXT and load it up in your next reply.

PeterP Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 (edited) save the TXT and load it up in your next reply. Now you know why I wrote "load it up" (via attachments) - and thanks This is enough. I can't see any conflicts. you are only short on memory in DCS. -anyway- seems that you have enough V-ram Dedicated Memory: 2014 MBand 4GB ram is OK )... But your system only can address 3... Memory: 4096MB RAM Available OS Memory: 3326MB RAM6 or 8GB would be much better... Do you have enabled crossfire - if yes: disable and have a look what happens , also switch off all CCC Ai optimization and only let DCS-controll your GPU. Also please tell me what kind of "monitor setup" you are using- If you run the 3Monitors in-game option please change it to 1Monitor. It eats-up your V-Ram! Have here a read about the "why": "3 monitor" camera... If this doesn't works- switch first TSSAA off - and also MSAA. If it runs without artefacts - go only to the fourth level. And let TSSAA off. Please report back! PS: Keep in mind that DCS-World and P-51D is a BETA (the letters you see while every start-up ;))- and the Load-levels of the models aren't correctly tuned - so this can explain a excessive use of V-ram/Ram. I think I made almost the same reply several times during the DCS A-10 beta... So be assured that it will better and better towards final release. Edited May 2, 2012 by PeterP
SimHog Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 (edited) Thanks P, appreciate the advice. I'll try this out tonight when I get home from work. I'm going to have have look at the virtual memory settings. I'm at a loss as to why the OS is only accessing 3.3GB. Re: crossfire ... I'm starting to get the impression that Crossfire / SLI is really a hindrance than a benefit for gaming. I mean I also play a lot of FPS games and many of them suggest disabling Crossfire / SLI to cure bugs. IL-2 CloD still doesn't support it, I've also bought Ka-50 and A-10 but have noticed I get smoother frames with Crossfire disabled, its the same with RoF. Slayer Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I wouldn't trust that DXdiag figure too much. Try this: ctlr-alt-del - bring up Task manager. At the bottom click on the button for "resource monitor" in the new resource monitor window click on the memory tab. Here you get a better breakdown of whats going on. It is a bummer most sims don't utilize SLI/crossfire too much but it's the only way to go for multiscreen gaming. It doesn't increase FPS so much as giving you the additional graphics power to drive the huge resolutions we run at. Until the 680 Nvidia guys cant even run 3 screen without SLI... Clod did work beautiful with SLi then they broke it with a patch and never bothered to fix it or revert the code and now they claim they have no idea why it wont work....and it still won't be fixed in their "patch " that they keep not releasing because of last minute bugs. ROF works good with SLI for me no stuttering or anything, runs smooth as glass. Probably the bsest running sim of the lot. SimHog Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Well disabling Crossfire has fixed the problem, tested it several times. I know it's only a Beta at this stage but given all other issues I've had with Crossfire, I think my next GPU upgrade will be a single card setup, despite having a multi-monitor setup. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 3, 2012 ED Team Posted May 3, 2012 I had a crossfire setup, it was a complete waste of time with DCS so I sold my second card. I also find disabling crossfire is of great benefit, and I do not run CCC at all ( disabled in start up ) I find I have less problems without it running. Next time I will be going Nvidia Forum rules - DCS Crashing?
