bulletproof Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Own the A10C, BS1, BS2, FC2 and now the P-51D. Started right at square one with the startup/taxi/takeoff and as anal as I am, was trying to contact the tower for startup, etc on NON easy communications. I have the VHF button B pushed and I push the PTT button \ for opening channel to the F5 ATC and ask for startup and they ignore me. Are comms still a WIP? P.S. Thanks ED for keeping the SIM dream alive.
Revelation Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Is your Radio tuned to the tower frequency? Which button is setup for the tower frequency? I haven't tried realistic comms yet, working on AC familiarization first then I will get into realistic comms. Win 10 Pro 64Bit | 49" UWHD AOC 5120x1440p | AMD 5900x | 64Gb DDR4 | RX 6900XT
Nate--IRL-- Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Radios can only be tuned in the ME - pick the 4 freqs you are most likely to use in the mission and assign them to each of the 4 radio selection buttons. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
bulletproof Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 Revelation - The P-51D does not have a radio frequency selector for the VHF radio in the pit. I knew that each airport had its own frequency but could not figure out where to enter it. Nate - Thanks for the nudge in the right direction. Will investigate the ME tonight for radio frequencies As always.. answers to questions are readily available here.
bulletproof Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 Jocko - Thats why I could not talk to the ATC..you have my radio selector. Give it back!! 1
flightace37 Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Just FYI, the ME radio frequency tab has some beta issues. I'm not yet 100% sure what triggers it, but if you select all the text in one of the 4 boxes and punch in a new number, you might find that clicking another tab/out of the P-51 options then coming back to the radio tab resets all the other frequencies to 100. I've been successful in setting the frequencies by starting in channel A and carefully placing the cursor after the last digit, then erasing with backspace to the beginning and typing in the new number. You may or may not need to set each frequency to get the changes to stick correctly on all of them. I recommend using channel B as your tower frequency, in keeping with standard practices. This thing must be a crystal radio. - WH_Mouse
Intruder_360 Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Funny is, i have selected the correct frequency, but the tower ignored my request to land. bulletproof Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 From the manual "MODE SWITCH. The Mode switch has three possible positions: REM (remote), R (receive), and T (transmit). When set to REM, the radio is operated by the throttle Mic button, receiving when the Mic button is released and transmitting when it is pressed. When set to R, the radio is in continuous reception mode. When set to T, the radio is in continuous transmit mode. " Therefore, my understanding is leave radio in remote mode and use PTT button to transmit message with menu system and then release for receiving confirmation. Yes?:book:

Intruder_360 Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Was your radio set to transmit or receive? Nate Thats a good question Nate I mean it was on Rem, because i got response from the awacs selected on channel b. On channel C i had selected the frequency from the tower of Gudauta (130.0 MHz) But it can also be a faulty operation by myself. I will check that again in the next days. regards Intruder Monitor: ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQL1A| Case: Thermaltake Overseer RX-I | PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2 80+ GOLD, 1300W| Mobo: Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master | CPU: Intel Core i9 9900KS @5 GHz | CPU-Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Tower Cooler | RAM: 32GB G.Skill F4-4133C17-8GTZR | GPU:NVIDIA GeForce RTX4090 OC 24GB |SSD: Samsung SSD 860 M.2 1TB | Keyboard: Logitech G110 | Mouse: Logitech G502 | Gaming Devices: Hotas WW Orion 2 Stick&Throttle, Thrustmaster MFD, Pimax Crystal, Stream Deck XL [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Magician Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 (edited) could you please tell how to set up comms in ME, I ask for start-up/taxi and take off but get no response, I'm new so be gentle. Thanks TC After you select your aircraft on the map, on the right side will show all the options for it, about 1/3 to halfway down is a series of tabs, for waypoints, loadouts, etc.. the tab on the far right has an icon that looks sort of like a radiating antenna (ETA: refer to the picture in the above link). Click on it, and below there are boxes to input the frequencies for each button. Get the frequency you need by clicking on the airbase on the map, the tower frequency will be one of the items that show on the right side. Or download one of the reference guides available on the net, incuding DCS site's "User Files"), or the DCS Manager app for phones and tablets. Edited June 25, 2014 by Magician

ShuRugal Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Yes - I forgot to mention the radio is still a WIP. Nate Is there any plan to let players set radio freqs via ground crew menu? I've run too many MP missions where the host slapped in a flight of mustangs without bothering to set a freq for ATC.
Flagrum Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Is there any plan to let players set radio freqs via ground crew menu? I've run too many MP missions where the host slapped in a flight of mustangs without bothering to set a freq for ATC. While that might not be the most realistic solution, I would still support the idea. I mean, hey, if the ground crew can fix wings that were shot off, then they can surely change some frequency crystals, eh? :o) But if this would be really considered, please ED, make this feature also available for the other aircrafts which have similar radios!
