Hey gang,

After some time away, I am getting back into flight simming. I have the original DCS Black Shark, and while I did not get too deeply into it, what I did I was very impressed.

Yesterday I found out Steam was running a sale on A-10 Warthog, so I went ahead and purchased it.

Now, after reading about DCS World and how BS2 integrates with A-10, I am strongly considering going ahead and purchasing BS2.

Since I will be building a new system later this year, for simplicity sake, if I do I will probably go ahead and buy the full version - so when I do my new system I won't have to worry with installing the original first, then BS2 upgrade after.

So anyway my question - as it has been a while I don't rightly remember:

I have my controls set up specifically for my Cougar, along with a joystick profile for it. I assume there is probably a file I can copy over into BS2 to preserve all these settings into BS2?

Also I remember I made some changes to a lua file, cause i used Notepad ++ for it - can't remember what it was though, perhaps something to do with the joystick sensitivity - not sure as I really don't remember.

So anyway, I guess I am looking for tips on what files I should copy over from the original Black Shark install, into the new Black Shark2 install if I go ahead and do this?

Thanks for any tips here,

Don B

They are enough different that I would be hesitant to just copy anything over without actually comparing the files first. Also, BS2 will be a modular part of DCS World after the next patch so their might be even more issues with copying files.

Ok, sounds like I should probably start from scratch again - no problem that is probably the best way anyhow - thanks for the info!

I don't know how you set up your Cougar to work with BS. Personally, I put all the keyboard controls into my own .tmm (haven't tried TARGET yet) and left the controls inside BS1 unchanged. You can't imagine how delighted I was when I first started BS2 and - except for the axis assignments, of course - didn't have to change or alter a single key. The switch from BS1 to BS2 was so smooth, I think I would have done it a month sooner if I had known how easy it was going to go.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that it'll go just as smoothly for you.

I am pretty sure I did it very similar, just programmed the keyboard controls to my own tmm file as well then assigned them to the buttons on my stick.

Hmm so yes you are right, that being the case as long as the key assignments remained the same, I should just be able to use the same joystick file for BS2.

I may have changed a couple key assignments, but am sure I will find that out relatively quickly if I did.

Thanks,

I rarely touch in game assignments for flight sims. I try to do as much as possible in Target. It keeps everything together for one thing and it often also gives me capabilities that I otherwise might not have.

I beleive that its a no no to transfer a BS1 control profile to BS2, it certainly caused me a bit of grief. I cant see how there would be a problem using the Cougar profile. After i realised my mistake i deleted my control profiles from the BS2 directory and let the game re-create the default ones, then with my Saitek profile running the same as always, just ran through and reassigned every thing within BS2 that i needed to.

Just in case there are any doubts left - no, you shouldn't do that, if you don't break the DCS (crash) right away, it'll certainly not work inflight.

You have to reassign the profile from start - using a fresh setup & config.

Thanks guys, yes I will not try to transfery anything over - many thanks for the tips!
