luckybob9 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 have you tried the material "old_tree"? When I try nothing shows up. But I am using an old version of the plugins Nevada map contributer EDM Modeling tools FAQ: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1418067&postcount=1 Seo libh a chairde is chanadh liom. rockwelder Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 (edited) Yes , I tried "old_tree" from before, and just now with the newest plugins...it seems the model viewer can display it, while the game can not. Since the trees in DCS used to be .loms, I figure they have a batch convert script from .lom to .edm. I can get the trees in game, but the other selectable materials are not appropriate in any which way... Edited May 14, 2012 by rockwelder
luckybob9 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 does it show up correctly in the viewer with no shadows?. what happens in game Nevada map contributer EDM Modeling tools FAQ: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1418067&postcount=1 Seo libh a chairde is chanadh liom. rockwelder Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 In the modelviewer it displays completely correct with the "old_tree" setting with "alpha test" selected for opacity for export. No shadow.. In game the model simply does not appear in the spot that it should. See pic in model viewer - this is correct
luckybob9 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 What do you mean by not the right spot? Wrong physical location? bad rotation? can you send me a screenshot Nevada map contributer EDM Modeling tools FAQ: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1418067&postcount=1 Seo libh a chairde is chanadh liom. rockwelder Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 What do you mean by not the right spot? Wrong physical location? bad rotation? can you send me a screenshot It does not appear at all. With other materials I can get it to display, but the material makes them look flat and dark. I can't take a screenshot of a model that does not appear...I can load the wrong material and show you the model in game...
rockwelder Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 here is the trees with "building_no shadow" material. See the dark halfs?
luckybob9 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 so the dark halfs are solved when using the old_tree material in the modelviewer, but when using them in game, they do not show up? Am i understanding correctly? Nevada map contributer EDM Modeling tools FAQ: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1418067&postcount=1 Seo libh a chairde is chanadh liom. Nate--IRL-- Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 here is the trees with "building_no shadow" material. See the dark halfs? Those aren't shadows are they? It just looks like the face is pointing away from the light source. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
rockwelder Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 Those aren't shadows are they? It just looks like the face is pointing away from the light source. Nate I call them shadows I guess... The back side of the trees are darker as well...
59th Ducky Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I call them shadows I guess... The back side of the trees are darker as well... Than in reality... ;)
rockwelder Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 Here is a rear shot of the trees, notice the how dark they are... A side shot looks like half dark half light...this is not what the current trees are displaying.
Nate--IRL-- Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Yeah very odd. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
rockwelder Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 Than in reality... ;) I wish it looked good, but there is a very noticeable contrast between tree faces that make the trees look awful IMHO. I want make some kick azz forests but there seems to be some glitches to work out...:)
