timc Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Does anyone know how to get the slider on the throttle or one of the rotaries to control the RPM lever? I've created top and bottom bands on the slider to correspond with page up and page down (keys for RPM up and down) but its too abrupt and difficult to control accurately.

I don't think the slider has the range of travel to be used as an axis for RPM, which I am guess you decided as well. I would use one of the toggles (or perhaps half of a hat switch), up for forward and down for backward. It won't be ideal but it should give you more control than you have with the bands one the slider. I think I tried that method for zoom on the A-10 a while back and did not like it for the same reason (lack of control). 26-J39 Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I use the thumb rotary on my X52 for RPM, works great. You need to set this in the Axis section, you have bound it to keys.
Agg Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I use the slider on the throttle, works like a charm :) Like 26-J39 says, you need to bind the RPM lever to the axis and not to the keys.
CaptHawk Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Same here..use the slider on the throttle. Only thing is in multiplayer it sometimes just plain does nothing.... fzfq3m Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I'm using the precision slider directly in DCS and it works fine... my rotaries are not as steady as the precision slider... cichlidfan Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 My rotaries were marginal but my slider was unusable as an axis without stairstepping the curve and that may be fine for zoom but not much else. timc Posted May 7, 2012 Author Posted May 7, 2012 Thanks to all for the suggestions. Tried using the rotary and that works well.
Weta43 Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 you need to bind the RPM lever to the axis and not to the keys. Not true. There's no reason why it shouldn't be set up to a hat switch or any other control & use the key bindings through the profile editor if that suits your set up. It will work perfectly well. Cheers.

I have t-flight hotas X. mapped 4 modifiers, and one of them is co- with POV switch fwd and aft. Smooth transitions is possible with a modifier and an POV switch. Shocky Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 I've been using the thumb rotary on the x52 for RPM management. Seems to work well enough, but with things still WIP it might be different in a week or two :smilewink:
