Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Really looking into DCS World. I am a former Lockon user, but have long been away from simming. The release of the p51 made me return to the forum, with a very picky (I know...) question regarding time-of-day/day-of-year modelling in the new DCS-World platform. Does DCS-World allow for date settings for a flight? Can I set for instance date to 1998-05-12 or 2029-11-30, etc... at given hours of the day? If yes, are daylight times computed acording to date? Thx in advance for any answer! Flight Simulation is the Virtual Materialization of a Dream...
Nate--IRL-- Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 AFAIK yes you can set any day in the future - sun position is calculated accurately even the stars will be aligned properly at night. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

You can't set a date in the way you mention, but you can select the day in a 365 day period (based on the year 2011 IIRC) with day 1 being the 1st of June. If yes, are daylight times computed acording to date? Yes, as are moon cycles etc.

I thought it was any date. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
HiJack Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I made this for mission making in FC2 but I guess the date thing is the same in DCS World. (HJ)
Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted May 7, 2012 Author Posted May 7, 2012 (edited) Whow!!!! That's what I call lightning fast replies :-) THX!!! And that's very good to know too... Of course, if the detail goes up to the stars, I believe the Moon and it's phases too are represented :-) Great detail! Looking fwd for the p51 final :-) AFAIK yes you can set any day in the future - sun position is calculated accurately even the stars will be aligned properly at night. ED Team JimMack Posted May 7, 2012 ED Team Posted May 7, 2012 This table should be in the manual. Thanks a lot for it, I never knew how to set day number to match the actual season:thumbup: The size of the moon also seems to change. Yesterday was the largest size in real life. Having problems? Yes, as are moon cycles etc. So our available dates, for getting the moon you want for example, are from 1 June 2011 to May 30 2012? 2012 was a leap year so I guess we lose May 31.
