I was not really entusiastic about a propeller driven plane... but I see the hype is actually huge, it made me scoop around for and about A2A combat tactics and made me learn new things... made me watch the Red Tails movie (kmh...) and appreciate the Mustang... But the thing that drives me the most is the faint hope DCS World will finally bring stability to my true love - the Fairchild Republic A-10C Thunderbolt II simulator a.k.a. DCS Warthog...

*Why the move?

Why the move? I think that DCS sees the broader picture and see's the need for a more dynamic WWII sim since as I see it other sim's are sort of failing...

Example: Microsoft(Flight, FSX) and Lead Pursuit(Falcon AF) and the every beloved for now Oleg's (Il-2)

Other than the rebirth of the Falcon with the new BMS..other sim's seem to be at its limit..and DCS is looking to the future and pursuing it..

But thats my opinion...I see DCS has a bright future...going the direction they chose...

I massively changed my mind about the P-51! I'm usually a systems and avionics kinda guy, but the P-51 is just pure fun.... I find I'm looking out the cockpit just enjoying the views.

My main concern with the future of DCS is bringing fighters, CAS aircraft & Helos together. Firstly, it does sound awesome in principle! But secondly, it's going to take cleverly designed missions to ensure everyone can go about their business.

For example, I'm going to be pissed if I'm trying to do CAS in an A-10 but keep getting battered by Su-27s (or whatever).

The scope for the world is amazing though, actually wouldn't mind flying some civillian/cargo aircraft around with the correct avionics.

I like variety on A/Cs, so why not P51?

In future, I'm expecting a helo and a fast mover also

Since the release have you changed you mind about the Release of DCS-World and the DCS-P51D Mustang and the Future of DCS

Nope.

Want the Me-109 for the P-51.

Want the F4U and Zero.

Too bad no servers are up until Prime Time Eastern time zone.

I definitely think there is a market for FC2, DCS, and DCS World. FC2 seems to be the most popular in Multiplayer.

Economics 101 states "all products have a life span". Thus the need for a marketing specialist and a strategy to keep going.

I think you guys need an advertising jingle and do a 30 second ad to The Military Channel and the other Countries' equivalent.

My mind never needed to be changed... I have been into airplanes and such for most of my life.. I just never flew.. I worked on A-7s in the Nave for a short spell.. the first one that I remember grabbing me was my older cousin's Cox P-40.. and Sky King I was hooked from then on. I have been simming for over 15 years and got into the genre full tilt in 2001 where I hooked up with the 332nd in CFS.

One thing I have discovered over the years is that while I like all the stuff that flies.. my sweet spot is the WWII birds. Jets and avionics just don't move me like the props .. and even the WWI birds.. while I like them (I used to make the balsa planes too as a kid) they don't move me like the 36-46 stuff.. and the Mustang has always been a favorite of mine so for me this P-51 sucked me into DCS. I have BS & LO.. (Never got FC, FC2 or BS2 or the A-10) but they just never floated my boat like the vintage birds and over the past 6 years or so my time has become scarce so I do most of my simming with the guys in my squad. This may drag them over here.. especially our XO who is a Mustang lover.

I was excited about the 51, but the reality of it is actually far more thrilling. I really didn't think it would have been this much to fun and fight in this bird. I've flown the A2A version and it's great, but without a world of war (despite the ERA) to sharpen my teeth in, its just not the same.

The way the 51 handles is also amazing, I LOVE the stability at lower speeds makes landing more challenging. I love the fact I have to look at my instruments constantly to monitor everything (soon to be temps) but airspeed, heading etc. Also make my rout planning more like real world where I'll study the various landmarks to help with navi as there is no waypoint computer to rely on.

I love it...and it's only beta.

I think you mean to say the "instability" at lower speeds?

And +1 on the beta. In fact, it's so polished I keep forgetting it's beta.

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

The only thing I don't like about it is the lack of FFB implementation .. I use a MSFFB2 stick.. I have for over 10 years and it is all I have so without the FFB it is just limp.. I never did get into the gunshake and all that but the lack of any stick force whatsoever is very problematic for me.. However... I have no doubt that that will be worked out eventually ..
