dburne Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Hey all, Ok I have cranked up A-10C with my new Warthog setup, first I went in and made sure the axis for my Warthog, and Saitek Combat pedals were assigned properly. I also assigned zoom, to the throttle slider. Someone suggested , as I have Track IR5, to utilize the pov hat on the Warthog for trim. What is it I specifically am looking for in the controller options - the trim left wing , right wing, and pitch options? Sorry I am sure this is quite obvious to more experienced folks with the sim, I am brand new to it and brand new to the TM Warthog. Thanks for any tips, Don B EVGA Z390 Dark MB | i9 9900k CPU @ 5.1 GHz | Gigabyte 4090 OC | 64 GB Corsair Vengeance 3200 MHz CL16 | Corsair H150i Pro Cooler |Virpil CM3 Stick w/ Alpha Prime Grip 200mm ext| Virpil CM3 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Base w/ Alpha-L Grip| Point Control V2|Varjo Aero|

Thanks for any tips, Hey brunette, if you got HOTAS warthog, why would you reassign anything?? I mean you don't need a keyboard with that HOTAS. For the zoom, I suggest you get the zoom remapped to trackIR_Z to Zoom View. It will make your life easier. Cheers. xxJohnxx Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Hi WildBill, The default profile for the TM warthog uses the trim POV hat to move the view. If you want to trim with it, you have to assign the 4 trim directons onto it. Hope that sorts some things out. dburne Posted May 19, 2012 Author Posted May 19, 2012 Ok now let me ask another somewhat "newb" question. Please bear with me, as my experience in the past was with programming my joystick files for my Cougar with Foxy - I am not as familiar with assigning from within controllers menu, especially if I want to use say a modifier or something like that. Ok so I went in and assigned the above trim functions, to the appropriate 4 buttons on my POV hat. I use Track IR5, so no need for POV to handle views anyway. And I do realize most buttons are already assigned for DCS - A10C, which is really cool. So now, let's say I want to assign " reset trim" as well. Best I can tell that is not already assigned to a button anywhere. Could I also assign this to my POV hat, say H1U - by using some sort of modifier? And how would that work? Of course, the regular H1U is already assigned to "trim nose down"... Thanks for the patience, I am sure I will get a good handle on all this soon enough. I looked in the manual but did not understand fully how best to accomplish this. FreeFall Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 So now, let's say I want to assign " reset trim" as well. Best I can tell that is not already assigned to a button anywhere. Could I also assign this to my POV hat, say H1U - by using some sort of modifier? And how would that work? Of course, the regular H1U is already assigned to "trim nose down"... This is how I did it (see the attached pic): I just added a new modifier. In my case it is called Paddle (Pinky), that is the paddle switch of joystick. Then I mapped that + "Joy BTN_POV1_U" to reset the trim (as you can see from the pic).
dburne Posted May 19, 2012 Author Posted May 19, 2012 Great, thanks for that FreeFall, very good to know. That certainly seems easy enough. Now if that paddle was set as a modifier for something else, then it would not interfere I presume? Thanks, Don B EVGA Z390 Dark MB | i9 9900k CPU @ 5.1 GHz | Gigabyte 4090 OC | 64 GB Corsair Vengeance 3200 MHz CL16 | Corsair H150i Pro Cooler |Virpil CM3 Stick w/ Alpha Prime Grip 200mm ext| Virpil CM3 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Base w/ Alpha-L Grip| Point Control V2|Varjo Aero|
FreeFall Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 (edited) The modifier acts just like the shift-button of you computer keyboard. When you press it simultaneously with another button, the original button gets "an alternative role". So, use the pinky paddle as a modifier and map any button with it to perform any command you wish. As you can see from the pic, I use Pinky Paddle as a modifier to activate night vision goggles as well (with TMS button right). And actually to control the brightness of goggles too (TMS up and down), but those commands are somewhere outside of that screen capture. Edited May 19, 2012 by FreeFall added stuff

FreeFall Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Perhaps just leave the " RESET TRIM " to the default keyboard setting (CTRL+T) I prefer HOTAS to keyboard. But it's just my personal opinion. :)
xxJohnxx Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 But you don't really need this button in flight, or? Resetting trim midflight might not be the best idea, and on the ground you can always use the TO TRIM button on the left pedestral, which would be also a little bit more realistic ;) Check out my YouTube: xxJohnxx Intel i7 6800k watercooled | ASUS Rampage V Edition 10 | 32 GB RAM | Asus GTX1080 watercooled
