Su-25 & Su-25T Flight Models

In FC2 is the regular 25 AFM or just the T? I keep seeing people specifically mentioning the T when they talk about AFM. For some reason I had it in my head both were AFM. Aren't both aircraft the same in terms of aerodynamics?

 

The FC2 Upgrade FAQ suggests both are AFM. If only the T is AFM, it makes more sense why it was exclusively chosen for DCS World.

Hell no. The Su-25T is overweighted when loaded. Sluggish. The Su-25A is nifty, has nice acceleration. Great to get in and out fast and you can sustain 6+G in it on egress for quite a bit of time. Nice to shake off MANPADS.

I only fly the regular 25. The big ugly Shkval screen in the 'T' was enough to put me off alone. It's nicely integrated in the Ka-50s design, but in the toad it's just bodged in there like a messy after thought.

Pretty much how it was I suppose. Having the RWR nearer to the eye line in the Su-25A is handy too. In the 'T' its pushed down the bottom right. :noexpression:

I've got 2 payloads I use for the Su-25A.

 

1) 2xR-60;4xKh-25ML;2xKh-29L;2xS-25L

2) 2xR-60;8xS-8KoM

 

I don't complicate things. :D

 

My biggest record is I *think* 17 light armored vehicles on a road in a single pass in a Open MP mission. I also shook off a bunch of stuff shooting. I was lucky aswell. 104th_Ironmike could confirm that. :D

The first loadout is certainly not realistic for Su-25A :smilewink: Normal combat load for Su-25A is around 1500 kg and also two external tanks are usually carried.

or 4x Kh-25ML, 2x fuel tank, 2x rocket pod

 

Something like that, surely not game's payload - example 2x Kh-29T, 2x 9A4172, 2x Kh-25ML, 2x S-25L, 2x R-60.... in such case you have right to say it is flying cow :]

That TV compared to GheyTen's screens seem to look like quite big panorama. We can say it is for todays - we have HD picture in pano mode ^^

I remember many years ago reading an aviation opinion from a Western Pilot on Russian Combat Aviation. it was a fairly blunt opinion but it's stuck in my mind now for a long time. He said you can do 2 things in Russian Aircraft. 1) Fly Beautifully 2) Make War... but seldom both at the same time. A bit of an exaggeration, BUT, it reminds me of this comparison: I can make more 'war' with the Su-25T, but dammit if I have to fly it nicely aswell. The Su-25A I can make less 'war' with it, but I'll look better with my high speed, High sustained G manoeuvres. :D

I think those old turbojets were tuned to work best in the thick air. Once you get high, the top speed bleeds off. Even still, the 25A gets back up to 5-6Metric in no time after a pass. You need to send a memo to the Su-25T to get high, and it'll call you back. :D

Nice speeds, on OPFOR event that speed saved my life - 2 Su-27 chased me :D
