Does anyone have any clue on how to refuel the F-15C in lo-mac 1.1?? In the Su-33 its pretty easy, the circle-cue on the HUD makes plugging into the tanker basket no problem :D .

Which indicators are on the F-15C HUD? I cant find any thing except on the top left of the HUD some counter which seems to indcate either a distance or speed or simething. Ironhand had a nice training track for 1.02 :) but since 1.1 doesnt feature robotic refuel anymore that track is useless now.

All help appreciated.

Your refuelling port is on the left wing root. Put the boom there and you've got it. The HUD offers you no help in getting there other than your closing speed. Just come in steady and once you're there you can take your hand off the stick. Your speed and altitude will be locked automatically. Don't use the airbrake or flaps. When you hear "disconnect now", hit "R" and back away.

The Su-33 most definitley lost its autopilot autorefuel in 1.1. But, huh?? Can the F15 automagically refuel in 1.1? has the behaviour been unchanged since 1.02?

Nope, the KC 135 models a boom operator, so you basically get close enough to it, and drink up. There is supposed to be a series of guidance lights on the belly of the tanker, but I haven't flown the F15 for so long... I remember looking for them for several minutes a loong time ago- unsucessfully.

I can't remember how to use the lights on the tanker though, just fly that close and match speed, heading, and altitude and you should connect.

What you are aiming for is to get the light on the left and right strips in the center position. The left light is your height indicator and the right is your speed indicator. The system was originally set up for heavy bombers like the B-52 thats why the lights are kinda messed up for fighter pilots. Left hand controls the right light, right hand controls the left light. To a bomber pilot of a B-1, B-2 or B-52 it would be the other/right way round.

In the above screen the speed is bang on, and he's just a little too low. As you can see the boom is extended all the way.

Ahh....Thanks, that makes alot of sense now. I could'nt figure out why that left light was so far off when I felt I had made a good connection.;)
