Daze Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 I have an X-52 Pro and I'm considering buying a Thrustmaster Cougar. I love my X-52 Pro however I feel I need an extension and it seems hard to on for the X-52 whereas it looks easy to do for the Cougar, and the Cougar has a lot of extra hat switches etc and it's metal so I'm sure it has a more real feel. Looking for some advice on whether I should buy it or just stick with my X-52 Pro? Is it much better in terms of functionality and accuracy compared to an X-52 pro? Cheers [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] First to Fight, First to Strike.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted June 8, 2012 ED Team Posted June 8, 2012 Cant speak for the cougar never had my hands on one, but the thrustmaster warthog is superb have you considered that as well? It takes the sim to a new level, I was using a old x45 before and the difference is amazing :) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? hassata Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Hi Daze. Do you mean the Warthog? If so yes-great stick. If you are referring to the old F-16 TM Cougar, it depends. Modded, it is a great stick-IMHO better than the WH in terms of feel. I've had one since release and love it. Stock, it is not as precise as newer sticks and can develop center play and other problems. I just sold a modded one and have to say it is a quality product. Great metal feel, no centers play and extreme precision with über next and hall mods. Expensive though, about the price of a new WH. If you can swing it financially, go for the WH or other mid to high end offerings based on reviews here. Note the WH is obviously great for the A10, but I also love it for everything else. Edit: Sniped in the gonads. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
cichlidfan Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Agreed, never used the Cougar either but I went from the X-52 to the Warthog and the difference is massive in every aspect. joey45 Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Go for the Warthong. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Daze Posted June 8, 2012 Author Posted June 8, 2012 Only reason I was asking is because I've spotted a cheap second hand Cougar and was wondering if it was worth it. I'd love to buy the Warthog but I've bought a car and paid for a holiday to New York recently which my parents helped me out with so I couldn't afford it and I wouldn't dare ask my parents :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] First to Fight, First to Strike.
hassata Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 I wouldn't to be honest. Likely to have center play and accurate response issue-unless it's from a community regular who can vouch for it. Save up and go for the gold. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Surely it would function almost perfectly? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] First to Fight, First to Strike.
cichlidfan Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 At that price it seems hard to go too far wrong but I am inclined to trust hassata's judgement. I guess it depends on how much it would hurt your finances if it turns out to not be such a great deal. hassata Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Does look to be in good shape, and the guy is in your neck of the woods. As Cich says, depends on your finances how high you're willing to bid. Go for it. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
