Bullitt Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 There have been a lot of questions regarding how and if FC3 will fit with DCS World. Our current intent/plan is that once you have purchased FC3 and have Lock On already installed, FC3 will be integrated directly into DCS World. As such, you have a separate FC3 icon on your DCSW main GUI page. Thanks, Matt ...but we do expect certain "DCS Standards" to be maintained such as detailed and accurate models and cockpits, mouse clickable cockpit controls, and 6 DOF view control. I was thinking about grabbing a copy of Lock On and buying FC2 just to play with some fast jets in at least some type of DCS like environment. I never got into Lock On/FC though because I can't stand having to map/remember a ton of key commands and the lack of immersion I felt as a result of not having an interactive cockpit. But I got to thinking about FC3 coming out and it's integration with DCS world and the whole "What Is DCS World" concept and put two and two together. I love you guys over at ED, I'm going to go find a copy of Lock On to be ready but I'm holding out for FC3 :) I suppose it would be really spectacular is all the FC3 Aircraft were to A-10C and KA-50 Standards but maybe that thinking is a little too wishful, lol. As a side note I do apologize if this has been brought forth before and if so have fun giving me a hard time about it

Rusty_M Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 If they were to make all FC3 aircraft to DCS standards, it'd probably have a different name, and cost around $30-60 per aircraft. Not that the price wouldn't be worth it, although I'd imagine if they did it as detailed as all that, they'd be released as individual modules, rather than one package. Who has time to learn all of those systems properly all at once? Actually, I'm scared of what the answer to that may be! The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine! http://www.twitch.tv/rusty_the_robot https://www.youtube.com/user/RustyRobotGaming
slug88 Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 I think it's a pretty safe bet that FC3 will mostly just be a direct port of FC2 to the World environment. There will likely be a few extra features (airbase resource management), but I expect the aircraft will look and play just like they do in FC2. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
PeterP Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Let me make a assumption: As long there are no more infos from official side about the features of FC3 we can make as much assumptions we want , but it will lead not to more knowledge. ...Only confusion and chaos behind this doors... :D
Daze Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 I'm hoping they all have a 6DOF 3D cockpit, that would do me. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] First to Fight, First to Strike.
PeterP Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Daze, let me tell you something: I always hope for the best but I expect always the worst . ... so I can't be disappointed - and I'm still able to be happy about the slightest improvement. ;)

As a side note I do apologize if this has been brought forth before and if so have fun giving me a hard time about it  I started out a year ago last January and found the Lock On Platinum 2 CDs boxed version to Best Buy for $20. But I almost immediately went to the new, non-beta, DCS: A-10C. Then I got the DCS: Black Shark 1 and 2. When the P-51 came out with DCS_World, it included the FC2: Su-25T. So I needed to learn this aircraft. I found Crunch had made a pretty good .map profile for my CH Products trio I found to CH Hangar for all the FC2 aircraft. While playing around with the Su-33, I found out about the various FC2's autopilot modes. It is pretty cool to watch the Su-33 automatically land itself on to the aircraft carrier. Can't do that in DCS. I still have a lot to learn concerning FC2, but that is where most of the guys' servers are to play with. FC2 is much more active than DCS or DCS_World in Multiplayer. I found Su-25 and Su-25T training User Files in Lock On FC2 that can be added to the interactive training for both aircraft to learn the basics from in Single Player. The current Su-25T beta in DCS_World has a few bugs in it. I find it best to learn this thing in FC2. I agree, it is a bear, learning the various keyboard commands but the FAQ sticky does have resources guys have made to make it a little bit easier. But repetition does help to memorize the commands usually used. It is kind of like a real pilot on active duty assigned to a certain aircraft for a few years, to get good at just that one aircraft. I do have pictorial joystick and throttle printed layouts I use for each .map aircraft profile that are hung on each side of my monitor on clipboard type hanger arms I bought from my Commodore 64 days back about 1985. I have different profiles for each aircraft saved in My Documents accessed through my CH_Control_Manager. Just about anything you need to know is in the forum archives and has been addressed previously. It just takes time to sift through it.
EtherealN Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 One thing I'll add is that the FC2 birds can be flown "HOTAS", I particularly like the X52 here due to how Saitek's mapping system works. The key though is, as OP mentioned, it takes a while to figure out what you want where. The key for me was to not sit down in one long session and try to figure everything out straight away. What I did was have a note of the key commands I _might_ need to use in front of me, fly a bit, and then move two or three I found myself needing a lot to the stick with the profiler. Do this three flights or so and you'll get yourself a logical setup that should be quick to learn since you made it "with experience" instead of just slapping a long list of commands on to it.
