Cali Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I'm not going to post my list again, but taking everything into account, they are likely making F/A-18C. We have a pretty good idea though. The website registration kind of gave it away. Keep thinking what you want, I'm gonna wait til ed says what the next DCS model is. Things can change at any time, you guys should know that. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Slayer Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Keep thinking what you want, I'm gonna wait til ed says what the next DCS model is. Things can change at any time, you guys should know that. ED already had posted pics of a 3D pit for an F16 and other pics of an Apache a long time ago...probably shelved due to no military contract to go hand in hand with to get to the fidelity they wanted. Also Nevada got shelved for 5 months too...so yeah things change. Cali Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 That's why it's best to wait til ed says what it is or better yet, wait til it's released! That way you won't get disappointed :smilewink:. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
robmypro Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I think this is a great problem to worry about. What happens if we have 2 of the same plane in DCS? I imagine the day when DCS aircraft are as plentiful as FSX. That would be amazing. I cannot wait to the day when I am trying to figure out which of the 3 F-16 versions I should buy! Not to mention terrain, sound, weather, and airport upgrades. Orbix DCS: Iraq! The wife is going to kill me.
shabo Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 The more the merrier! I personally would love to see some 3rd party devs coming out with some nice looking/working addons, AT A LOW LOW LOW COST. I for one wont be paying $30 for an addon that isnt up to the a-10 quality. If it is, then I would/will pay. And said product wont be in a beta stage if I am going to buy it.( I cant stand being a paying customer and a beta tester at the same time, its what you are doing now) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] www.wargamelabs.com you might need a life if you computer specs are in your sig ;)

shabo Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 I sure didnt pay 40 bucks for the A10. I bought it when it was on sale. No addon is worth more then the original game. Atleast when you got the a10 back in the day you got the world to fly it in. Now they have separated that so basically you pay the same price for the airplane as you did before but you dont get world with it. And like I said before and I will say again. If a third party dev can make an "a-10 quality" add-on I would pay 30 bucks for it. Heck I would pay 80 bucks for an updated dcs world map that doesnt look identical to Lockon. Espcially now since we play CA, boy that ground looks soooooooo outdated and makes fighting on the ground almost too ugly to look at. And yes go ahead and negative rep me. Sorry if I am not the uber-fan boy. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] www.wargamelabs.com you might need a life if you computer specs are in your sig ;)

Revelation Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Shabo.... I've flown with you many times over at MVS and Wargamelabs, but man... DCS A-10C was originally $69 and I had no qualms paying that price and I have no regrets either - money extremely well spent. ED listened to the community and released DCS World with aircraft modules versus having to download 5GB of data for each "unit." Imagine when DCS v1.2 came out if there were all still self-contained... 5GB for BS2, 5GB for A-10C, 5GB for P-51D, 5GB for CA and 5GB for SU25T(if that was released as a stand alone). So let's assume SU-25T would never have been released... That's 20GB of data to download... Now some will claim that they would only download BS2 or just A-10C, well fine, but some of us would like to have them all up to date. That's where the modular system in DCSW comes into play and I am very thankful that ED came through for the community on that one. And the big one.... No one is paying to beta test. Everyone is given the option to pre-order and be allowed to download and participate in the beta. We get the enjoyment of trying out the latest and greatest and help ED to deliver a better final product. Win-Win! You are more than welcome to wait until the beta is done and the final product is released to purchase it. Heck wait another 3-6 months after release and there will probably be a sale. Win-Win! It sure beats how BS1 was originally released... I even ended up with a temp ban because I "got access" to BS1 before it was released in the States. (I totally deserved it by the way) I much prefer ED's current method compared to how things were before. Win 10 Pro 64Bit | 49" UWHD AOC 5120x1440p | AMD 5900x | 64Gb DDR4 | RX 6900XT
shabo Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Rev. again, I bought my copy of A10 on sale. I rarely buy something like DCS when it originally is released, why you ask. Cause I dont like paying for an unfinished product and then dealing with the inherent bugs that come along with it. Like A10 I waited till that sale a while back and bought it then. It also was no longer in Beta and had most of the bugs worked out. How do you think that "no one is paying to beta test" Did you buy CA? Is it in Beta? Have you posted about bugs on the website? Well hate to break it to you but you too are a paying beta tester. Personally I only bought CA and the P51 to support ED in their endeavors to create the best sim out there, which imho they are pretty darn close. I can count on one hand how many times Ive flown the mustang and can count on that same hand how much I dive into a ground vehicles in the CA mod. To me the CA mod needs tons of work to even bring it up to "arma2" quality. I would wait until the beta is complete but from what I see as the track record, that will be a long way away, and well every now and then I do have a desire to run the ground forces, then I get into a abrams and realize that armor in Arma is better then this. The whole thing really comes down to I guess I will wait to see how high quality releases in the future are and decide whether or not they are worth my hard earned money.
