Stratos Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Anyone know the range of the Su25T with combat payload and no droptanks? Not need to be really precise, is only to know If I can do proper combat missions with half the fuel. Su25T is a bit underpowered and reducing the fuel carried will help to get better handling. Thanks. I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
mvsgas Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Most video I seen of it in combat it always carries 2 tanks. In the past, while flying online, I could take off from Sochi to Mykop and staying on station for 15 to 20 minutes. Normally, I RTB with around 1000 to 800 kilos of fuel. To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
Pyroflash Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Yeah, IMO the aircraft doesn't carry enough fuel. By the time you get to wherever you were headed, you will need to RTB. Less of an attack aircraft, and more of a strike aircraft. This, however, is only my experience, and I am sure that you can squeeze better fuel economy out of it if you try, plus flying with drop tanks would go a long way, I am sure, to helping ensure that you have enough fuel to stay on station. I would not however, recommend that you take anything less than full fuel on internals during a sortie. If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
GGTharos Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Reduce weapons instead. Do you need those draggy vikhr pods? Not likely. But, ok, you're attacking tanks. Let's see what you can do: You can avoid taking Vikhrs, and use cluster bombs instead. You can take the Vikhrs, and leave all other pylons clean. Stratos Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 Good tips. I will try to reduce my payload, the plane fully loaded feels like a tug. I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
mvsgas Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 For me, a fully loaded SU-25T is like a full trash truck on an ice covered road. A SU-25 loaded just with the minimum weapons needed is like a minivan, not the most maneuver, not the fastest, but practical. 159th_Viper Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Plenty far range, depending how you fly. Climb for altitude and don't firewall the throttle and you'll go far. Stratos Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 Idle is the position you only need to start the engines and land right? :D I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
159th_Viper Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Idle is the position you only need to start the engines and land right? :D Nope - Idle is where you wanna be so the pompous fast-jet jock can 'Fly-right-By', thus affording you the opportunity to shove a R-73 up where the Sun seldom shines :P Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? GGTharos Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 ... Until you realize that he's blown off your tail by then, and you can't pull up to him ... or even if he missed, you still can't pull up to him. Frostie Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 The Su-25T ain't toothless in A2A.. in sort of the same way that your Great Granny can still chew stuff. "[51☭] FROSTIE" #55 'Red 5'. Lord Flashheart 51st PVO "Bisons" - 100 KIAP Regiment Fastest MiG pilot in the world - TCR'10 https://100kiap.org
Boberro Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 If you fly behind enemy you can use Vikhr instead of R-73 which is more valuable. But the problem is ED didn't give AA mode for Vikhrs in Su-25T so it will not detonate untill direct missile contact... which can be difficult. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
