TomDK Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Want To Buy: Complete set of wood for an ACES II seat. I asked several carpenters, mostly the guys with CNC, but none of them is interested, they prefer to glue plastic windows into houses. Therefor i would be willing to sell shippingcosts thru whole europe for a set. I asked also a guy in the USA but after I mailed him that I live in germany ... no answer so far. And no .. I am not interested to cut the wood myself in the garage. This worked more or less for the simpit but surely not for the seat. Thanks Tom My old, sold, pit: http://bilder.einzelart.de/thumbnails.php?album=74&page=3
Waxi Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Here is another guy in Germany who is willing to pay for a pre-cut ACESII kit.
hog_driver111th Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Make that 3... If my wife would let me, although I am planning on making my own. If either of you two have good plans for the A-10 version of the aces seat, let me know and maybe I'll do the work. Deadman Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 I have not seen any descent plans for the A-10 version of the ACES II to bad metalnwood in not in the E.U https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
metalnwood Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Yeah, sometimes I think it's too bad I dont live there either! I know for sure as someone asked me about something else that sending a flatpack kit for saomething else. Shipping was ~880USD for a 50KG item around 400x1000x400mm. Ouch. That certainly makes that kind of product uneconomical for me to do. One thing that could be possible is to make a template pack from 3mm ply or mdf so that you could then use a router with a flush trim bit to get perfect copies in 12mm/18mm sheet. Even then it's probably expensive to ship.
Deadman Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Screw the ply Aluminum is the only way to go if it is shipped the weight difference is significant:smilewink: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
metalnwood Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 yeah but the 3mm gives a proper edge for the flush trim bit to work. Ahh, the fun days before CNC when you had to make patterns and templates all the time :)
Deadman Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Okie dokie:thumbup: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
