Multiplayer Crashing on Sign-in

Thunderwve

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Problem: Connecting to the multiplayer login masterserver causes a CTD after a successful login and before the serverlist is being loaded.

Occurance: Since the connection to a gameserver was lost. Since then, everytime I try to login to the masterserver. The crash does not produce an errorlog normally located in "Saved Games\DCS\Logs".

Windows "DCS has stopped working" error window says that MSVCR100.dll is causing the issue. Reinstalling the MS C++ Redistributables fixed the problem temporally, but after disconnecting from a DCS:W gameserver and trying to reconnect to the masterserver, the same problem occures.

Last message written to dcs.log:

00025.068 INFO NET: sent serverlist request

Looking forward to provide further information as requested.

Yep, all we're told is that it will be fixed in the next Beta... Whenever that comes long

Sorry, unable to reproduce.

Did this behaviour start at some date / day?

- If so, I may suspect it may be something related to the master-server updates.

Or has it been like this since you installed the game?

No, unfortunately no info I can relate to.

Your game was working fine for 2-3 weeks/months?

But since last week/month it started to do this?

And it's fixed by reinstalling DCS World?

This particular serverlist crash thing seems to happen to me about once a week, and it's been happening to me since about a week after DCS world beta started. And yes, reinstall fixes it. But not unless I uninstall DCS world first.

There is a known issue with MP browser and Nvidia - alt tabbing may cause a crash

How to produce it:

- Start MP, log in.

- Connect to a server.

- Disconnect from server, stay in MP server list

- Alt Tab.

Workaround:

- Exit DCS if you need to go to the desktop, or stay ingame if you don't.

Could this be related?

Nvidia for all of you?

After trying to connect for about half an hour it is working again. I had this issue only today, starting at 8:00 PM GMT+3 and ending at about 8:45 PM GMT+3.

Maybe I got corrupted messages from the Masterserver resulting in a crash?

It is possible - that's why I'm trying to understand the circumstances a bit better.

Or what other factors which may play a role.

Nvidia or ATI?

ATI here as well. Looked like a malformed MS message parser that walked all over memory and hitting different parts of it depending on loaded DLLs (TrackIR had some crashes, for example, otherwise the renderer when TIR was turned off).

Edit: Confirm time span of "downtime".

Count two more with problem

I'm using ATI, buddy using triple head to go. Both of us have same problem. Has occurred over several days during last week, never succeeded in getting on. Still can't. Reinstall no help.

UPDATE: logged on okay 6/10/2012

So it's not connected to the GPU.

Does anyone have anything as of CRASH logs.

Or please check your Eventviewer, Applications, Application stopped working.

For a guideline: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=88164

I dont think we need DxDiag of this one, just relevant Crashlogs / DCS logs.

As said before, crashes seem to be dependent on loaded components.

Here's a few occurences, once with TIR enabled:

Uh-huh.

Doesn't seem very helpful. Hunch still points at broken clientside when the master server sends something unexpected.

The other logs don't show anything interesting.

Hey Panzer,

I've seen this issue too in the past 1 or 2 weeks. I've got an ATI-gpu.

Tonite it happened again.

At the exact same time, one of my squad-buddies in the UK tried getting on the masterserverlist, but CTD'd as well after he logged in and was waiting for the list to appear.

Here's the crash-log :

Now, the funny thing is, about 1,5 hours after the crash, with nothing shut down or restarted on my computer (TIR still running), I can log in and see the masterserverlist no problem.

So this looks to be a related issue to TIR5.

Gents, I've noticed the following (for quite a while actually):

- "TrackIR5.exe" may stay in the process list even if you have quit the TIR-App.

- Make sure you use Taskmanager to KILL TrackIR5.exe if it's still running after you QUIT the app.

This may be the reason I've not seen the problem.

For reference, I have TIR4 pro with TIR5 software version 5.1.300 Build 9945.

Perhaps you can state your TIR versions as well?

I have TIR5 as well. Don't know the exact software version at the moment. Will check in the morning.

TIR5, with 5.1.300Build 9945.

I did not end the TIR5 application. I came out of a multiplayer session in DCS World to desktop in a normal way. Then I fired up DCS World multiplayer again and after logging in it crashed. TrackIr continued to function properly. At the same time someone else, grom the UK, was trying to get into multplayer too, but he could not get to the masterserverlist either.

Then after 1,5 hours I was able to log in again and get to the masterserverlist. I did not end any application in the mean time, just fired up my Firefox-browser.

If you fire up TIR - and haven't rebooted your PC, you may discover 2-3-4 TIR processes in the taskmanager. So just keep an eye out for the one's you started yesterday and the day before that.

Only 1 process is needed for normal operation.

And no need to shut it down between MP sessions - excuse me if it came out wrong like that.

Just run TIR all nite long, but when you're done for the day - shut it down and check the process-list.

It may appear there - and cause issues (in games) tomorrow when you fire up TIR again.

The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
