Well I give up, will have to wait for my ticket to come up.

Installed BS. activation key didnt work.

Uninstalled BS.

Uninstalled World in case that was blocking it.

Reinstalled BS. activation key didnt work.

Installed an old update for BS. Suddenly it worked without putting in the activation key.

Reinstalled world. Tried to instal BS2 module. message; will not install without an install and activated BS. Installed BS module. Activation window. Problem with the key.

hours wasted lots. BS's installed nil. Problems in previous installations: never. Is this installation as straight forward as previous installations. No.

Valid question that still stands: Why is everyone having trouble when it is exactly the same procedure as when the original BS2 Upgrade package was purchased?

Took the words right out of my mouth.

I still couldn't solve my problem, even after trying to authenticate my copy on the Starforce website, manually with the protect.exe because it doesn't come up by itself when I start a mission.

My support ticket still wasn't answered yet. So I am waiting, unable to play the product that I bought.

An example of what?

Same procedure that is evidently now giving trouble when the original procedure did not. What has changed?

Why can't they just upgrade the BS1 to BS2 automaticly on my account so there is only one BS2 version?

I suppose they could but why would they?

If they do so for one they set a precedent and accordingly must do so for all. How would the purchasers who paid the premium price for the Full version as opposed to the discounted price for the Upgrade version react I wonder?

I'm pretty sure it will not be all Sunshine and Roses that's for sure.

But in the end its the same version, BS2 1.2.0. I don't think the customers who bought only BS2 care because in the end the people who bought BS1 at first and then bought the upgrade paid more money for the whole package. I bought BS1 for 50 dollars and the upgrade for 20 dollars, which is more than BS2 standalone.

I think people who bought the upgrade would care. I am not, I just want to get this thing running.

I think they should just look at all the people who have BS1 and BS2 upgrade and give them BS2 Full. It is the same end product.

Nope, it is exactly as you stated.

There is no reason it should not, indicating a probable error with your install procedure.

First-off, why did you activate by means of the protect.exe?

Actually, since I bought BS1 first, then bought BS2 full version (both for full price), I spent a greater sum. Part of which I could have saved had I known about the deal you are proposing.

If I were in your shoes I wouldn't mind if all the BS1/BS2 upgrade owners had their lives made easier.

It was also your choice to do that, maybe somewhat wisely envisioning the issues one may have with the install process but I just think it could all be rolled into one serial, one BS install. Done. Can't see the reason why this wouldn't be fair. Who cares if you bought the upgrade, who cares if you bought two separate products amounting differing amounts money irrelevant of what path you chose. It's just unnecessary to have this obsolete software on the system to activate a whole new product. I can't help but think it could just be a simpler process.

It's the same situation with Lock On because of Ubisoft, yet ED have done it to themselves this time. Just seems counter productive and unnecessary.

Make it register with the activation system based on the fact that that serial for an upgrade version is tied to an original BS1 purchase and therefore allowable to be activated. Wouldn't that work.

Anyway, I won't voice any more on the matter. It's fairly insignificant but when I hear how people paid full price for BS2 I find it rather belittling to those that bought BS1 and BS2 upgrade. It's a natural solution to anyone who wants to UPGRADE an original purchase, that was what's on offer, why do something different. In hindsight yes, it would have been best to just purchase BS2 full. But that wasn't a logical thing to do.

Personally, I really don't care (though I am not sure other feel the same) since it was indeed my choice. I was just pointing out a flaw in the logic being used. ;)
