Can't assign left and right wheel brakes...

When I go under options and start setting up my controls for the P-51, I go to Axis Assign to set up the wheel brakes for my Saitek Pro Pedals. Except when I go to the slot to assign the individual pedals the game won't let me assign anything to either slot. Instead, the only thing I am allowed to assign is just the "Wheel Brake." If I click on "Wheel Brake Left" the option to add a key command is totally grayed out so I cannot assign anything at all to it. Any thoughts?

If it is the AXIS COMMANDS menu you are looking in, quite possibly the whole keyboard section is greyed out. More than likely because the AXIS section is for just that... axis assignments (keystrokes aren't an axis)

 

Click under the Saitek Rudder section and you should able to assign your pedal axis, or if you select the ALL menu pull down and scroll down to Wheel Brake, there are pre-assigned keystrokes (Keyboard section) for Left Both Right

First make sure you are in the right aircraft setup from the drop down menu "P-51" for example. Then make sure you are in the correct column "saitek rudder pedals". You can just double click in the box to assign the axis.

The odd thing is it WILL let me assign new commands for everything else (keyboard, CH throttle, Fighterstick). This has only started happening after I installed World 1.2 - before that when the beta was first released I had no problems with the rudder pedals.

 

Thanks for yall's help so far though, any other thoughts as to what it could be? Do I need to reinstall everything? Really trying to avoid that cause my net here is horrible, so bad I originally downloaded all the new DCS modules at a friend's place.

Thats strange my Saitek pedals had no problem accepting the add..into options...done thru Axis Commands..

P-51D is a beta.

Don't expect a continuity in every aspect during a version change.

If there was installed another version of the module you install, it's obligatory to delete folder with old configuration data:

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Saved Games\DCS

fist try to rename only the input of the P51-D to something like "P-51D-Old" and see if it fix your problem.

C:\Users\>your user name<\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\P-51D

Common Controller or Input issues

If you experience problems, there are some simple tests you can do to figure out where the problem is.

To differenciate where the problem is and what to really fix, you can try all of the following methods;

• Rename or Remove the DCS CONFIG Input files (and keep them for later if they aren't broken).
  
• Remember to check the basics; Control Panel / Devices and Printers / Calibration.
  
• Unplug everything but your keyboard & mouse.
  
• Do not use special controller-software; Unload it.
  
• If you have a very special mouse or keyboard, perhaps you could borrow another device and try again.
  

At any stage where you change the devices during troubleshoot; Rename the \Config\Input folder - this will reset inputs to DCS-defaults.

Now there's a good chance you may see a difference - and you may be able to nail the cause.

Ive tried these things and still no luck PeterP, thanks for the help anyways though I truly appreciate the effort. Im thinking I might just delete everything and reinstall the game to see where that gets me.

Before going to that extreme... perhaps post up a screen shot of the controller section you're in with arrows pointing to where you're trying to assign what commands to, first?

The whole keyboard section is (iiuc, by design) greyed out in the Axis assigmments menu

Normally the toe brakes would have a separate axis, I know CH Pedals do, is that not the case with Saitek pedals?

It is. Left and right, like you would expect.

 

After three weeks, I suspect the OP has solved the issue. ;)

I added rudder and brakes in last night, so axis assigment worked for me.

Possibly fixed in the latest patch?

Oh, come on, I can't imagine even an initial beta released without rudders or brakes configuration. ?
