I have never heard the technical term "Meh" before. I wonder if there is a benchmark for that.... :megalol:

Of course there is. You need to make sure which one you are testing though, the metric or the imperial "meh".

I came into Win8 completely hostile thinking I would hate it, but... it's actually really nice. Faster than win7 (especially boot times), the OS integrates well with my gmail and FB... I'm a reluctant fan.

Thinking about going to Windows 8 and have a couple of questions:-

1) How much disk space is required ?, looking at the system requirements for the Win8 updator it states that 20GB is required. I'm guessing this is the total hard drive space required for a complete install and not another 20GB of Win8 files installed on top of my current Win7 installation ???..... (I have currently have Win7 installed on a 60GB SSD and only have about 20 GB left).

2) If i download and purchase the Win 8 upgrade from the above site, can you do a clean install of Win 8 using that downloaded file alone ?.

Initially i will just upgrade my current Win7 install and see how it goes, however if i like it, then i would prefer to do a "clean" install of Win8 onto my system.

Thanks.....

Hi..

I'm about take the plunge and rebuild my PC with a OEM version of Win8 pro.

Are there any outstanding known issues? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

That's what I'm running and just did a clean OS reinstall and have zero issues. Runs DCS faster with no problems at all regarding all the peripherals (Warthog, TrackIr, TS etc etc).

Just a word of advice: First thing you might want to install straight off the bat is Classic Shell - makes the transition much easier.

Best £25 I have ever spent on a Windows OS that's for sure - probably best OS thus far IMHO.

The £25 was that special MS ran for a limited time prior to release, via digital download only. I was lucky to pick it up :D

Oh yes, another thing to install that does not come pre-installed is Windows Essentials if you use that, ie things like Movie-Maker, Skydrive etc etc.

Can you wait awhile so that you can purchase a larger SSD? Then you could install on it leaving the other drive for backup, or later as a second drive.

The upgrade ver. of win8 doesn't do a clean install (Digital Copy).

Of course it does :)

You download the .iso and use the Windows utility to make a bootable USB memory stick. You then do a clean install booting up from the memory stick. That's how I've been doing it.
