KLUTCH Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 (edited) Hello everyone! I've got a couple of USB screens which I hope to add a pair of cougar mfd (when they arrive) but already I have a problem with the screens/game/both. Here is a video of the problem: As you can see when 'in game' the usb screens are sort of paused and unresponsive but when I switch to windows and click the tray icon do they wake up and work normally. Has anyone else had this issue and does anyone have any suggestions at all? (Windows 7 x64 ~ nVidia 460 GTX 1gb) Edited August 24, 2012 by KLUTCH
PeterP Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 (edited) un-check "Disable Aero Interface" in the in-game options - and make sure you run a Aero Desktop theme. Your virtual graphic adapters of the USB-Monitors relies on the function of the WDM graphic drivers of Win7 to emulate some "hardware acceleration" that is needed in DX applications to draw contend on them. Without Aero these functions are switched off. Usb monitors are simply not meant to be used with DX applications: In a nutshell and very simplified: The pixel data has to go this way to the USB-Monitor: DCS > GPU > V-ram > ram > virtual-graphic-adapter(no hardware acceleration! everything is software based = extra cpu-cycles) > usb-bus > Monitor With a normal monitor it goes like this : DCS > GPU > V-ram > Monitor EDIT: When they work like expected you can use one of these pre-sets to switch the in-cockpit MFCDS off to save some CPU/GPU cycles and maybe higher your frames: All Exports On in A10C for DCS World 1.2.0 Edited August 24, 2012 by PeterP 1
PeterP Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 thank you so much peter! This means they work now?! Please also read this to get a overview which problems you have to face with Multi-Monitors and which workarounds are available: A Plea for View-Export/Multi-head/TH Users. - ED Forums
KLUTCH Posted August 25, 2012 Author Posted August 25, 2012 Yeah they work great, Cougar MFDs arrived this morning and I attached them fine to the displays with sticky tape (might make a thread as a tutorial). The main problem I have now is when I open DCS World every few seconds all the screens goes black (like the monitor has been unpluged and plugged back in), this only happens in DCS World (loader)
Flim Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 How many extra frames do you get when you shut off the in-cockpit mfd's? Just wondering... Also, what are your frames with nd without the USB monitors? Thanks

As for FSX I've notice the frames are terrible with the usb monitors

atrdriver Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Vista 64/UM-80 Problem Hi, Not sure if this is a good place to post this, but I just got two UM-80s and already had the Cougar MFDs. I'm running all under Vista 64. So far it only recognizes one UM-80, not both. When I go into display settings, it shows 5 monitors, the main monitor and four others. First, I'm unsure why Vista is seeing 5 monitors when only three are connected. Second, I'm unsure why I can only make one UM-80 active and not both. I have tried rebooting with no UM-80s connected but it still sees four additional inactive montors. I'm a total newbie to this multi-monitor stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
