dooom Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Hi all. I am currently using TS3 through a set of Saitek Aviator headphones. They hurt like heck so i am probably moving to a USB gaiming headset soon. I want to make a good choice so I have a few questions. My current set up is to have my headset plugged in for TS3 only while the game comes through my desktop speakers. That way i can always hear the comms clearly and not have them compete with in cockpit noise. My questions: What is your set up for game sound vs comms? Can i pipe both game sounds and TS3 to a USB headset and set a "Priority" i.e. when someone talks, it dampens the game sounds. My hands free in my car works this way with my stereo. Are there any good wireless headsets you recommend or should i stay away from those? Thanks. joey45 Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 (edited) My late night gaming headset [for when speakers are not an option] is the Logitech wireless G930. << I have not had any faults with them*, even though they were a re-conditioned set from Amazon.. But you are gonna have the game sounds through your desktop speakers so a cheapo USB ones would suit you better as you will not need all those fancy stuff. 1. My set up is game and comms through my speakers and a cheapo broken headset... only the mic works 2. I believe you can but if you go for a gaming headset then they would have noise cancelling pads... 3. have a look for reviews online about headsets. *knock on wood. MTFDarkEagle Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 1) Full 4.2 (yes, 4.2) surround set for the sim. Logitech Z-623 on the front, and Logitech X-230 on the rear. Steelseries 5Hv2 headset for comms. 2) Yes I think you can set this up in TS. Not sure how, but I'm sure it's possible. 3) Wireless: pfoe.. Like joey said: read up on some reviews. I've been using the 5Hv2 now for a considerable amount of time and I would recommend it to anyone as it's a great to wear, and excellent audio capabilities. But, it's wired so I don't know if you want that :) Hope this helps! Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
cichlidfan Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 (edited) I have a wired Logitech G35 that I am quite happy with. I am used to the wire so it is not an issue but... Btw, the G930 is exactly the same set except wireless. EDIT: Amazon has an interesting one here. joey45 Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 (edited) The review is awesome... Are you going to have TS through the headset...? Have a look at the Logitech G330.. dooom Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 that g330 looks too small for my ears and I am not sure how i would mount the track clip pro on it... i want to have both the game and TS3 coming through the new headset... BUT - i want the tsp3 to dampen the game sound when another guy tries to talk to me. joey45 Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 If you want wired the the G35 or if you wireless go for the G930. The range of the G930 is awesome, I can go anywhere in the house and still hear. For the damping I think that would be something to do with the settings in TS I think. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. cichlidfan Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Unless your TIR is modded to be wireless, you will have a cable anyway. I secured the TIR cable to the G35 cable and used the female USB on the TIR to plug the headphones into. Then it uses only one USB port. However, what cichlidfan is trying to explain: even though you might have a wireless headset, there will be a wire coming from the trackclip pro (if you have one obviously) to the usb-trackir-combo-cable-thing. So in that case a wireless headset would be pretty pointless. However: should you "make" the trackclip pro wireless (the wire is ONLY for power!) by bolting some batteries or something similar to the headset, it would be fully wireless again.
