cvsusn Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I have CH's Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, and Pedals. The map appears to work well when loaded. Here are the challenges: 1. I check all CH's controllers in CH Control Manager to ensure they're all functioning properly, then load the profile. I do this prior to each session with DCS World A-10. Entering Options in DCS World A-10, it is hit and miss whether it recognizes all three controllers. Normally, it's the Pedals that is unrecognized. I've found re-starting the computer is the only way to get the pedals to show in Options. Is this a known issue or am I mucking it up somehow? On other occasions, all three controllers will appear in options, but they won't respond when buttons are pushed. 2. I used the default keyboard bindings to assign keys, however when flying a training mission (I'm at the basic level for now) these keys do not respond. Keyboard commands are in addition to those assigned to CH controls. 3. My old eyes demand glasses. I've turned TrackIR v5 light filter all the way up yet the reflection from the glasses still causes some havoc, but much more manageable than previous. There must be a suitable option other than the Clip Pro that's out there. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Carl

I wear glasses as well and had no trouble eliminating the reflection from being an issue. Are you quite sure it is the glasses and not another light source? Witchking Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 In trackIR software....try to check camera view and see if the camera is tracking only 3 points associated with the clip pro or the hat clip. If u see another IR source in the display...u can then isolate it and figure out how to correct it. cvsusn Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 I used camera view when adjusting the light filtering. Had to turn it all the way up. Still had some red reflections from the glasses, but not as bad. This evening they didn't show at all. I attribute that to a pair of dirty glasses. :-)
Tailgate Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Are you using Mapped or Direct Input mode on the CH Manager?

I attribute that to a pair of dirty glasses. :-) My bet is that your glasses aren't any more dirty. The sun has gone down. You would be surprised at the stray reflections that can bounce sunlight (just enough to bother the camera) into a room. I discovered that at certain times I had to close the window (apparently the double pane blocks enough) to block reflections from the surrounding houses. cvsusn Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 Tailgate, it's in mapped mode. cichlidfan, windows have always been closed with blinds drawn. Light source remains the same.
Echo38 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Try turning down your monitor brightness a tad?
Darkwolf187 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Sunlight is INCREDIBLY bright to an infrared camera. You don't need much sunlight at all getting into the camera's view to mess it up. I wear glasses - admittedly mine have an anti-glare coat, but still. I've never had any problem at all with my TrackIR picking up the glasses. But I do have problems if I leave an incandescent light on and one of the glass doors shut so the reflection of the light bounces off the glass and is visible in the viewfield. The bigger problem I get is when I look up a significant amount, the edge of my hat obstructs the top reflector and messes up the TrackIR. I can't really put the camera much higher. I should probably turn up the vertical sensitivity so I don't have to move my head up/down as much.
Darkwolf187 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Try turning down your monitor brightness a tad? Monitor brightness will do almost nothing to a TrackIR's ability to pick up infrared. The spectrum coming out of the monitor doesn't have much IR in it.
cvsusn Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 Darkwolf187, "I wear glasses - admittedly mine have an anti-glare coat . . ." Interesting. I wonder if there are clip-ons that would have the anti-glare coat? Folks, thanks for all the responses re TrackIR, but I think I can fight through that one now. What suggestions do you have re the other challenges? Appreciate it. Carl
Wrecking Crew Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I wear glasses, too, and never had a problem with that and my Track IRs. On sunny afternoons I get light reflecting off of the TV behind me and that can be seen in the Track IR software - so I did turn up my IR Brightness to 13, as well as closing the shades. My BIGGEST problem now is me bro opening the fridge for beers and that totally wonks up my views, and it happens A LOT! :D WC Visit the Hollo Pointe DCS World server -- an open server with a variety of COOP & H2H missions including Combined Arms.
