AussieM8 Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 (edited) Hi all, Would like to know what would be the most realistic resolution to run the TGP in the A10C Warthog, would be interested to know what resolution others use. 256,512 or 1024? Wrecking Crew Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 One of the guys commented over at SimHQ a while back that the A-10C MFDs are 512 & not every frame. After GG said that it is what I have been using now for a while and I am fine with it. cichlidfan Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 What does this "every frame" mean anyway? If you are getting 30fps then every one of those 30 frames. Cookie Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 As opposed to...? If I leave it unchecked, will I have only 20 fps (just pulled a random number out of my a...) on my MCFD? I tried both options and can´t tell a difference at all, but then again my regular fps are quite regularly in the three-digit range, so is this something I just shouldn´t bother with? :dunno: - Two miles of road lead nowhere, two miles of runway lead everywhere - Click here for system specs
159th_Falcon Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 (edited) Every frame means the cockpit MFD's are updated at the same rate an moment as your games FPS. This can be an performance issue for some though. So selecting the normal setting updates the MFD's at a lower FPS then the rest of the game world. Idea is your overall FPS should be higher. (and usually is) No idea what the FPS of the MFD's exactly become though, but its related to and lower then your overall FPS. ***EDIT*** regularly three digit FPS????? Start flying some proper missions........ On a more serious note, how did ya achieve that? Cookie Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 (edited) Thanks Falcon, got it now. As for my fps, of course they go down when the fecal matter hits the revolving air device, it´s not as if I can keep them there no matter what. ;) How I achieved that? Dunno... I assembled myself a new system (details in the sig) with just DCS in mind, and it runs the sim really sweet even with all the settings maxed. 159th_Falcon Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 Hmm, my last CPU was half the price....... Then again, im pretty much limited to 30-45 fps whit it....... BTW, is the same processor available without GPU integrated? We will need an external one for DCS anyways. (sorry for off-topic, but figured it wouldn't hurt since OP's question has already been answered) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
EtherealN Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 (edited) BTW, is the same processor available without GPU integrated? We will need an external one for DCS anyways. No. But do note that you can use the iGPU for a second screen without taxing your addincard. (EDIT: Assuming Z or H series chipset.) Cookie Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 (edited) Something tells me its expensive........ Depends... the entire system set me back € 1800, the CPU itself was a little over € 300. I got the parts from here (don´t know if you speak german, the site can be switched to english as well though) and highly recommend that place. Very good prices and top-notch service. For an additional 20 bucks they even assemble your system in case you don´t feel like putting it together yourself. If you´re shopping for some new parts you should definitely look there as well. They ship to the Netherlands as well for a very reasonable rate (€ 9.99 flat) and if you order before 1400 hrs you´ll have it the very next day. Well, in Germany anyway, Netherlands might maybe take an additional day or so. 159th_Falcon Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 Thanx for the tip, helpful crowd today. Prices seem similar as over here at first glance though, site bookmarked. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
Supersheep Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 This thread is off-topic already, so here I go: I ordered stuff from Hardwareversand.de myself already and can recommend the shop, but be aware that they might not assemble those BIG heat sinks (like the Thermalright HR-01 Macho) because of the stress those add to the parts during shipping. With the mentioned cooler, this means that you need to disassemble the system yourself to mount it anyways, so you can go with only the parts just as well (Edit: this simplified statement ignores return policy and warranty regulations..). badger66 Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 My memory says 512, but I don't recall the source. Do the resolution 512 every and 1024 every and the rest only refer to the MFD's please ? Im generally getting somewhere between 30 to 40 FPS with 1026 every frame ..... it this only applies to the MFD's , I will lower it . What would you suggest ?
cichlidfan Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Do the resolution 512 every and 1024 every and the rest only refer to the MFD's please ? IIRC, the resolution setting applies to all viewport gauges (though they should not count for much) as well as the MFDs and the mirrors.
