bojangles_25 Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 A number of times while landing in v1.2 of Warthog, my wingman has crashed into me. I think he is trying to slow down and is snaking left to right behind me, before he finally just smashes into me... Why does the AI try to land in formation with you when it clearly doesn't work.. taking off in formation is dangerous enough.. Is there any way to prevent this or is a patch in the works? 159th_Viper Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 You need to approach and stay well left of centre and all will be OK. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? bojangles_25 Posted September 28, 2012 Author Posted September 28, 2012 Really? Usually I use ILS because I like my nice yellow cross on the ADI :) If I have to be off-centre then doesn't that make ILS pointless? If I'm at the right speed (green circle on AOA indicator) then should the wingman actually be able to handle it? HiJack Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Give your wingman the "Return to base" command.
Druid_ Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 The AI collision detection is something that has been worked on and improved. It will hopefully make the next patch. i7-7700K : 16Gb DDR4 2800 Mhz : Asus Mobo : 2TB HDD : Intel 520 SSD 240gb : RTX 2080ti: Win10 64pro : Dx10 : TrackiR4 : TM Warthog : ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q

You are just slightly more than an aircraft's width off-centre so it should not affect your ILS landing too much. And yeah, flying the doughnut should be OK, although I think the A.I. usually aborts if you don't come in fast - would have to check that though so don't take my word for it. Pyroflash Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 For now you just have to BFM your way onto the runway. If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
Oznerol256 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 ILS is not built to land in formation. It is designed to give you the ability to land even if you don't see anything. If you land with a wingman at your side you need to think about your wingman! His Warthog is just as big as yours and needs the same amount of space on the runway. You will have to share the available space so everybody can land somewhere. Usually you do this by choosing one side and let the AI use the other side of the runway. ILS will show you that you are off-center because you actually are off center. The center is between you and your wingman. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
