Gunnergolly Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 (edited) Hello The impression from what some of you guy's have posted in other threads is that the latest 1.2.1.6192 patch has been a major improvement in terms of performance that you have gained. Previous to the newest patch i was getting excellent FPS across all the modules (i have them all), however ive noticed that since applying patch .6192 i'm now having very mixed results. I cap my FPS at 40. KA-50 .... Tested using the "Battle" mission, absolutley terrible FPS, dropping to as low as 8 when looking at the battle field, once i turn around and fly away my FPS returns to 40. I've replayed the "Battle" mission with all my graphics options turned to low and once a few enemy units are "smoking" my FPS nose dives to 8 again.... so my graphics card is not causing the problem. I've also tested using the "Terrorist" instant action mission and everything is good with the FPS stable at 40. I also "un-capped" my FPS and then replayed the same mission again and the FPS remained stable at 60 with Vsync on. Also had a quick test with the "Gauntlet" mission, it starts off well at 40FPS until i turn my Shkval on when scanning the first target area, then my FPS drops to 22. I've tried setting up a simple flight where i'm flying low and fast through Butami city and i have no problems maintaining 40 FPS. However depending on which heading you are flying turning the Shkval on can cause a FPS drop until you fly within 5km of where your Shkval is looking. So i don't really know what to do now, for some reason my CPU is having a really hard time in some of the missions... i could play them previous to the .6192 patch and my FPS would sometimes fall to 35 (Battle Mission). I'm aware the this is a "framed" sim that relies heavily on my CPU and my FPS may drop when there's plenty of action. However i chose to test the latest patch version on missions where from past experience i know the results that i usually obtain. Would appreciate any suggestions that you may have or maybe the next time you play "Battle" or "Gauntlet" if you could please post your FPS results and your opinions..... maybe BS2 is not well optimised as yet ? My spec's are:- i5 2500k@4.6Mhz, 8Gb RAM, Vertex 3 SSD, EVGA 580GTX (Factory Overclocked). Just for your interest if you have managed to read this far !!! :book: :- A-10C & SU-25T .................... Good stable FPS, only tested on instant action but have no complaints..... Displaying the TGP and Maverick on both MFD's has no effect on my FPS....... seems well optimised. P-51 ..... Tested on the convoy attack instant action, getting a stable 40 FPS until i fire my guns at the convoy then my FPS drops to about 30 and i get the stutters, especially when the APC's start smoking... Thanks... lokitexas Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 We have similar spec machines, and the only way I got a decent fps back is switching anisotropic filtering in nividiaCP to application controlled. That really helped me out. Try that see if there is any difference. i5 3570k @ 4.3 560ti GTX 2gig 8gig RAM Intel SSD Win7 64bit
Gunnergolly Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 We have similar spec machines, and the only way I got a decent fps back is switching anisotropic filtering in nividiaCP to application controlled. That really helped me out. Try that see if there is any difference. Thanks for the suggestion lokitexas. I've always used the application controlled setting for DCS in my Nvidia CP because as you already know it just works better. I can only assume that BS2 for everybody else is working really well judging from the lack of response. However i don't believe that is the case as my machine is stable and probably about as fast and efficient as current hardware allows (for the price). I have played the "Battle" mission many times and never before have i experienced 8 FPS, so i know it's not the amount of AI activity that's causing the problem. It seems to me that my machine is being brought to it's knees by the current explosions and smoke within DCS World. So what i'm really wanting to know is.......... has anybody else tried playing the BS2 "Battle" mission and what results are you having ?... Regards... lokitexas Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I will give it a go later today and post results. Is "Battle" just a quickstart mission? i5 3570k @ 4.3 560ti GTX 2gig 8gig RAM Intel SSD Win7 64bit
Gunnergolly Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 No it's a single player mission, you'll find it in KA-50 mission folder after you have selected the mission option from the main GUI screen.... Thanks... lokitexas Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Ok, played "Battle" and can confirm frames take a serious hit about 10 seconds into the mission. Getting about 10-15 fps on this mission. Usually getting 35-60 on other mission and Oil War campaigns. Definitly an issue here. 1 i5 3570k @ 4.3 560ti GTX 2gig 8gig RAM Intel SSD Win7 64bit
Gunnergolly Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 Yeah that's exactly what i'm getting after about 10 seconds of play, another lad on here has tried the "Gauntlet" mission and he is also having FPS when issues flying towards the first waypoint. Thankyou for testing and posting your result... lokitexas Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Not a problem. Just seems like the BS is not getting any attention. This and the Wingman missing radio coms seems like deal breakers to me. i5 3570k @ 4.3 560ti GTX 2gig 8gig RAM Intel SSD Win7 64bit
diveplane Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 i have to confirm major performance issue with the ka50 cockpit for me build 1.2.1 .6241 =Shkval System tv display is killing frame rates . previous builds did not get this performance issue? https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
EagleEye Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) This Battle mission is unplayable for me to. It became even worser when the artillery shells? impacting the ground. I have between 1-3 FPS then. Griffin Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 How fast is your CPU EagleEye? I have a very similar system.
Riemann Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Hi, i have the same graphic issues as you. I had also big fps impact when flying low with a AH-64 ahead and a AAA vehicle shooting his shells (with the latest new tracers graphic rendering). Please ED, optimize the new graphics!

Griffin Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Ok thanks for info. I'm currently overclocking mine but sadly can't yet comment on the performance as my PSU broke down, thus I can't use my graphics card and will not install the sim until I get SSD this month. Was hoping for some ballpark figures if you were overclocked.
Smokin Hole Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Battle has been my benchmark since Black Shark 2. My performance has fluctuated up and down with each release since BS2. That is until World at which point my performance has tanked. I am also having pathetic performance when looking a certain features around airfields, so its not purely an effects issue for me. Granted, I'm not using a gaming rig so my expectations need to be realistic. But things shouldn't be getting worse and in my case the unquestionably are.
