Mobius1 Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Hey, I was wondering, with the Introduction of the Predator in 1.2, is there a possibility that buddy-lasing will be introduced also, given the Predator can designate a target and an A-10 can drop an LGB? They directed a nearby A-10 warplane to ready its laser-guided bombs, while the Predator itself prepared to guide those bombs onto the target with its laser designator. Such "buddy lasing" is a common targeting tactic. http://usnewsdev.summerproductions.com/issue/030519/usnews/19air.htm First paragraph... Stupid thermals...
cueceleches Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 It would be great!!! Or at least the possibility for the A10 to be fitted with a targeting pod in order to use LGBs.
Shaman Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Very good feedback! I'd also like to see that. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer

355th_Paulie Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Can the A-10 really be equipped with a lasing pod? It can in real life. :D
Yellonet Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 It can in real life.I only thought it had the Pave Penny. i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
britgliderpilot Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 I only thought it had the Pave Penny. One of the most recent A10 versions can have the laser pod - I don't think it's quite the A10C . . . . Litening pod, perhaps? Not compatible with our Hog, anyway. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Yellonet Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Ok. Then it shouldn't be in the game, but buddy lasing should be. i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
britgliderpilot Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Ok. Then it shouldn't be in the game, but buddy lasing should be. Yup - the word was that ED are looking at introducing buddy lasing, but we don't know when. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
dynamocl Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 I am hoping for something along the lines of an FAC facility in the game with lasing and voice instructions. Along with helicopters and other ground forces giving you targets (again by CAS communication battle chatter or lasing) Hoping they think about this in the destroyer/tank killer add on. One can only dream.

One can only dream. Intercommunication with different flights and ground units would be very cool, but I don't think it's going to happen any time soon. However . . . . ED have been working on an experimental FAC feature. There was something somewhere showing an FAC feature they were going to try to sell to the military as a training aid for RL FACs . . . . http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Boneski Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 New A10 Upgrade The A-10 Upgrades that are coming are going to make an already capable jet even more so... and user friendly! My mission is to fly, fight, and win. o-:|:-o What I do is sometimes get a tin of soup, heat it up, poach an egg in it, serve that with a pork pie sausage roll.
firesoldier845 Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Incidentily you should be able to do the same thing in an SU-25. In afganistan they did buddy lasing where one SU-25 or an SU-24 would designate and another Su-25 would come in and launch on the target. I mentioned this to ED in another thread and they said they would "look into it".
