Just finished a mission with gun failure from ground fire. Is there a way to get the gun back in air? Debrief showed IFFCC gun failure and ( ILS Ant Marker fail irrelevant to topic)

I take it I have to land ASAP with this? just fired 120 rounds or so, then basterds down shot back and the rest of it was pure rifles and pickles..

Sorry, my bad:

Could it be fixed in air? what to look for? how to diagnose? I tried going through stats page and nothing showed up..

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

If the IFFCC is turned off within 2 seconds (IIRC) after the gun finishes firing, the gun will jam due to the clearing cycle for the casings being interrupted (something of that nature). That would make sense in based on your info.

Only other ways would be mechanical or electronic failure of either the gun mechanism itself, or the control systems. In any case, a gun failure usually requires ground crew to fix it.

Again happened today without battle damage. I tried resetting un ammo from IFFCC submenu with no luck. I even cycled the IFFCC switch a couple of times. Nothing. I had it recorded but erased the file by mistake.

Hmmm- do you have random system failures turned on?

no, its Georgian hammer mission 7 departing senaki for HQ interdiction. was doing cas for JTAC ferret (west) when during my run I fired and as I broke off, the gun suddenly had XXXX all top... I had almost 870 rounds and after the run had 340 rounds.

The only thing I've seen make it do that is battle damage- so I'm afraid my input may be of little further value.

A part of me wants to know how you were certain its not battle damage- when you're in a mission and doing gun runs on enemy targets that I'm going to assume have a propensity to shoot back...

But I'm going to take it for granted that you've covered these possibilities and yet still had a system failure- how to rectify it other than returning to base is beyond me.
