dooom Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 I downloaded the FC3 module and installed... have not purchased yet but i can play the instant action sorties. I will pay tonight regardless but I find this odd indeed. The only odd thing is I have an invisible Cockpit in places. If a tester wants to email me I can explain my hardware and launch process. Nate--IRL-- Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 You will not have FC3 cockpits until FC3 is installed and activated properly. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Nybble Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Hey Nate, would I be able to get some clarification regarding this? I patched up DCS World and downloaded the beta module without actually purchasing it, as I was concerned about the issues regarding owning Lock-On etc. I managed to get it installed and I was not prompted for a serial. I was then able to start up missions which again did not prompt me for a serial, and I had the same encounter as dooom, whereby I had the plane flying but no cockpit whatsoever. I also tried to runfc3_protect 1 & 2, which did nothing useful. Once I buy FC3, where do I enter the serial, and how will that affect the cockpit problem? DCS Multiplayer Highlights Reel -
Nate--IRL-- Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 FC3 is not installed/activated at this point, even though it might appear like it is. DCS:-World without any modules will behave the same way. All Flyables are selectable but will appear without cockpits until the module is installed and activated. You will be prompted for the FC3 serial when entering a mission, after it has been installed correctly. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Nybble Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Wow cheers for the fast reply! I am confused now, you say "FC3 is not installed/activated at this point, even though it might appear like it is.", however if that is the case then what is the point of the beta module at all, and furthermore why have there been videos and such posted of the new content? You misunderstand - it isn't correctly installed and activated on your computer. When it is you get the cockpits. Nybble Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Oh ok, would you be able to troubleshoot me if possible? My installation worked without issue, but I am yet to be prompted for activation. How can I manually activate it? Also I just purchased my copy from the site, so I do have a key to enter now. DCS Multiplayer Highlights Reel -

Nate--IRL-- Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Reinstall it (Just to be sure it is installed ok) and then try to fly. It will prompt for an FC3 key as it tries to enter the sim. Also be sure that your DCS World version is the latest version, before installing FC3. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Nybble Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) There are 2 files in that folder, 'fc3_protect,1' and 'fc3_protect,2' When I run either of them I select activate / deactivate product, then click next. The window is closed and nothing happens from there. When I click event log instead, I get the following error: http://i.imgur.com/AcwDe.png EDIT: I have reinstalled it a few times now, with no luck :( Edited November 11, 2012 by Nybble Ninjas DCS Multiplayer Highlights Reel -
159th_Viper Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 I'd do as Nate suggests, a complete reinstall. Do not forget to delete your Saved Games folder as well. Nybble Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Ok, thanks to all! A FULL (Emphasis on full) reinstall of DCS World solved the issue, and I was prompted to enter my serial key, which was activated seamlessly. Thanks again! DCS Multiplayer Highlights Reel -
159th_Viper Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Jolly God glad to hear :) Yes, if one runs into issues it's best to Nuke your entire install and then some.
