Speedbrake Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 With the latest changes to DCS World v1.2.2 I've noticed that when I check manually for updates it no longer starts the simulation after checking. Was that a change or is something messed up on my side?
ED Team c0ff Posted November 20, 2012 ED Team Posted November 20, 2012 A feature request coming true. 1 Dmitry S. Baikov @ Eagle Dynamics LockOn FC2 Soundtrack Remastered out NOW everywhere - https://band.link/LockOnFC2.
Sting57 Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 I recieved an update lastnight, is there a changelog for that? PeterP Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 (edited) A feature request coming true. +1 this must bring a huge relief to your server as it is only asking for a version and not of all the contend. but: ***sorry for my poor attempted to derail this topic -- I jut wanted to say something that is on my "to do" list without having to open a own thread about it.*** I know- you are not responsible for the contend. - you are just programming the functions and have to rely on the info that others give to you... anyway: Another request(s) and when I ask for a "changelog" I mean a detailed one that gives hints about changes in a moded DCS installation. this is really nice >> 1.2.2 Updates but don't covers it. It only gives hints. What I'm asking for is - things about changed shaders > like HDR and the BS NVG - Changed key scripts - tell the customer about mission/triggers-incompatibility - and so on... start to see it from a end-user perspective and answer the questions before they arise. and a ++ would be a backup-folder that not only backups the user-changed files - it would be very helpful to have also a folder/function that gives the end-user the possibility to revert back a update - right now it is just a " "... so the end-user can save a lot of time to restore his whole DCS World installation back to a state where it was "most functional" on his system. some people did put 100$+ in their DCS installation (I'm talking only about software - let the hardware aside...)- and right now the update is forcing some of them to do a time-consuming research how to restore their old functionality without losing the ability to join a server.
BRooDJeRo Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Immidiate start of the single player client after updating while multiplay is used mostly is kind of silly isnt it. 19 out of 20 times after an update you dont want to be in singleplayermode. +1

Azrayen Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 PeterP, I'm not saying there isn't room for improvment (there is!) but... and when I ask for a "changelog" I mean a detailed one that gives hints about changes in a moded DCS installation. As said Speedbrake, you have a changelog. It's not user-friendly nor the entire auto-updater is modder-friendly at the moment, but it exists.:) and a ++ would be a backup-folder that not only backups the user-changed files - it would be very helpful to have also a folder/function that gives the end-user the possibility to revert back a update (...) so the end-user can save a lot of time to restore his whole DCS World installation back to a state where it was "most functional" on his system. That part too may not be the most user-friendly, but such a possibility exists, if need be.:) For myself, I see the autoupdater as a "still WIP" functionnality. Right now, it does all needed basic functionnalities, with a basic UI (which may require technical knowledge or help from knowleadeable people). Anyway, as things take time, I'm glad ED introduced the auto-updater in 1.2.1 (and didn't wait for it to be all-inclusive), as the immediate benefits of the core functionnality only is already huge (from an user PoV). Cheers Az' PS:+1 this must bring a huge relief to your server as it is only asking for a version and not of all the contend. Switching off the "auto application start" after a user-commanded check for update has no relation to any server load (or I'm missing something big!)...
Quax456 Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 I recieved an update lastnight, is there a changelog for that? I'm now on 1.2.2.7649 (or something with those numbers :-) ) No thats right, I had this too. But this update seems to be closed by ED. I made a rollback cause this version did crash any time with "DCS.exe crashes due to WorldGeneral.dll" I believe ED has made a rollback also, quite after they recognized that it was faulty :D My Rig: Windows 11 Pro, Intel i7-13700k@5.4GHz, 64GB DDR5 5200 RAM, Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Elite AX, 2TB Samsung 990 PRO, RTX4080, Thrustmaster HOTAS WARTHOG Stick + WINWING ORION 2 + MFG Crosswinds, LG 32" 4K 60FPS, ACER 30" 4K 60FPS GSync Display, HP Reverb G2 V2
