I am at the point to install a 3 monitor display.

After looking thrue different sites and comparisions. I don't really know what I should buy to have something decent.

I saw that the "must" would be a Nvidia Geforce GTX 690 but the price is horribly high.

Actually, I have a Nvidia Geforce GTX 260.

What would be the good compromise to have a good final quality ?

Thanks for your advices

I'd go best single GPU. I don't really like dual-GPU cards at all. It's still limited by whatever SLI is capable of. In many ways you get diminished returns on SLI. My personal pick for you would be a GTX680 4GB version. If you want to compromise a bit go GTX670 4GB. Video ram capacity is critical for NVIDIA Surround. You'll want 4GB version instead of 2GB.

Single GPU and AMD at that IMHO. 7XXX series. I have 3x28" displays on my 6970. I am considering a 3GB 7950 or 7970 right now for the extra memory. The Nvidia cards are also great but I am not sure how many monitors are supported on a single card. AFAIK some of the newer Nvidia 6XX cards do support 3 displays, not sure about more than that though. AMD can typically support up to 5 or 6 displays on their higher end cards using eyefinity.

Best of luck!

I run three screens 4460x900 on a ATI Sapphire 7850 OC 2gb, runs really well and did not break the bank.

Lets say that I'll go for the GTX 680, it only has 2 connectics for monitors. How do I connect 3 monitors then ?

Do I have to keep the GTX 260 + the GTX 680, or is it GTX 680 instead of GTX 260 ?

The Nvidia GTX 6xx types of video cards typically come with 2 DVI connectors, an HDMI connector and a Display Port connector, which can all be used at the same time. So you should be able to connect and use up to four displays at the same time using all these connectors. At least this works at with my GTX 670 card.

The performance of the GTX 670 (4 GB version) using 3 full HD 27" displays was not that good in DCS though and in the end I preferred going back to one single screen since the low frame rate (about 10-20 fps in very crowded missions) killed my immersion. However, with a high-end CPU (I have an old Intel Core i7 920 overclocked to 3.2GHz) and a GTX 680 or 690 you may have acceptable results.
