Bahger Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Hi gents. I was once all over DCS A-10, including squadron flying and mission design but I took a break. Now I'd like to come back. I'm sure I'm several patches behind the current version of A-10, I do not yet have DCS World and would like to get Combined Arms (almost the only DCS product I have not jumped onto in Beta). I do not know how these products interlock or how to update my current A-10 build. I've always updated via Torrent before. Is there an auto updater now? Are updates inclusive of all previous, missed patches? Will updates include DCS World? I have quite a lot of work ahead of me updating my HOTAS files, etc., not to mention re-learning the sim, so any guidance to make the update and DCS World and Combined Arms integration as smooth as possible would be very welcome, thanks. 1
Silver_Dragon Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 if you have a patch before 1.2.1, you need install them (or direct the last 1.2.2 build with your modules (if you go to full install deactivate your modules previous uninstall them)). If you have 1.2.1 use autoupdater. Them update DCS:W and all modules you have installed (A-10C/BS-2/P-51D/FC3). joey45 Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 1 - Download DCS World < the core game where EVERYTHING plugs into. bit like FSX in a way 2 - Download the Module < in this case DCS - A10C < the addon/DLC The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Bahger Posted December 25, 2012 Author Posted December 25, 2012 Thanks, guys. I cannot find my singleplayer version #. MP appears to be 1.1.1.1. I believe the only modules I have are A-10C and P-51. So, just be clear; should I patch up, patch by patch, before downloading DCS World?
Silver_Dragon Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 No, you only need install DCS:World 1.2.2 and modules. No update patch to 1.1.1.1 to 1.2.0 Download section: World: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?ProductId=21&end_pos=137&scr=product&lang=en And Modules: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=136&scr=products&lang=en For Work/Gaming: 28" Philips 246E Monitor - Ryzen 7 1800X - 32 GB DDR4 - nVidia RTX1080 - SSD 860 EVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 2 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Warthog / TPR / MDF
SmokeyTheLung Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 (edited) Hey Bahger, welcome back. Flew with you back in the 1st VFW, 25th Draggins (unfortunately disbanded now). I wouldn't worry too much about your old standalone installs (I wouldn't get rid of them just yet either). Download the latest version of DCS world and get it installed (its free). Then download the individual modules you own. These are small downloads... Grab your serials off EDs website and run the installers for the modules. If anything needs to get updated further, the auto-updater will take care of it. Edited December 26, 2012 by SmokeyTheLung System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
Bahger Posted December 25, 2012 Author Posted December 25, 2012 Smokey, good to see you! What happened to the 25th? That was a well-run squadron. What are serials? Sorry if that is a very dopey question.

Spectre_USA Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 In the same boat as Bahger, have been on hiatus, many thanks Silver Dragon. My serial number was already on the module download page. As a former beta tester for A-10C, has anyone heard about the Nevada training area that was supposed to come out eons ago? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] A tale of 2 hogs
Dusty Rhodes Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Spectre it is still being worked on..........at what stage? Pre Beta as far as anyone on the outside knows. I wouldn't expect it anytime soon as ED has made a new graphics engine for the Nevada terrain called EDGE (Eagle Dynamics Graphix Engine). Up soon will be 1.2.3 patch which you can see the fixes included in it, in these forums (well documented). Good to have you guys back flying again. The community needs experienced veterans, though you might feel like a rookie when you first get back in the saddle. :) I havent' flown since LAN meet in Wisconsin with BBALL and Griff and the Arctic Knights in November so I am having to relearn muskle memory on my stick file.
