How to assign turret rotation and elevation to mouse?

Hi all,

I'm trying to set up my CA controls (using DCS 1.22) and realized I can't assign the turret rotation and elevation to my mouse. When I look at the Options -> Controls -> Ground Unit -> Axis Commands, when I double click on either of the two rows mentioned above (turret) in the Mouse column, I can't do anything.... no dialog comes up, I can't select the "Add" button... what gives?

Are we no longer allowed to use the mouse for rotating the turret or elevating it?

Thanks.

Isn't this the case by default? It is for me - I launched right into a mission in CA without bothering to change my controls at all the first time, and my mouse controlled all turret movements without issue.

Although interestingly, I just double-checked to compare (Options -> Controls -> Ground Unit -> Axis Commands) and noticed that my bindings menu here was completely empty. I don't know if that's something specific to my own configuration somehow or not though.

Hmm I'll have to check it out. I had to reinstall DCS so I'm going through and mapping all of the keys for all aircraft, etc. Needless to say it's taking me a while so I'll eventually test out CA.

Thanks...

OK, I tested it out, and you're right Parias, the mouse does control the turret elevation and rotation by default.

One more question... I want to invert the elevation control for the mouse, but since there's no way to edit the mouse Y axis, there's no "Invert" check box to check. Any ideas?

Thanks..

Sorry to bump this thread with same question.

I just Bought CA (like 5 minutes ago) and the mouse although default assigned to turret rotation/elevation has the axis inverted.... I understand that many plays up/down reversed even in shooters... I understand that for a plane it feels normal... but... left and right? Reversed?? Who's playing like this? :D

SO... can it be moded somehow? Or is it a bug?

Thank you!

I have found a solution.

I let in General... Axis settings... view un-inverted and now in CA the mouse controls how I want the turret... left is left... right is right... up is up and down is down.

I also found my Track IR and mouse controlled my JTAC view (B key) by default and unassigning it in options didn't stop it. I have to turn off my Track IR to have a stable JTAC view.

Not complaining though, Combined Arms is just amazing and I no longer play ARMA 2 because of it.

In TrackIR settings you can bind the 'pause' function to a key (it's F7 or so by default iirc). This way you can turn TrackIR on/ off without shutting down the entire client - quite useful if you're jumping between aircraft and ground vehicles within the same mission

Isn't it actualy the standard camera rotation which you do in the general settings? Not the general settings in CA, but realy the general settings between the other modules. The DCS World general settings.

If you go into the files you can do anything. Like I assigned a modifier and TrackIR to turret rotation. I sometimes use it to look around.

Remember CA is still in Beta so hopefully they will give us more control of default keys in the final release.
