Ratfink Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I'm struggling to find a decent 24" monitor or TV for use as a monitor. Any suggestions? sobek Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Since the pixel errors on my current monitor are starting to get annoying, i'm looking for a new monitor as well. I'd like a reasonably fast IPS panel with LED backligthing since the angle dependant colors of my current TN panel monitor always drove me nuts. As already mentioned, the areas that are important for me are reaction time, viewing angles and that it's usable for watching films as well. Color coverage and fidelity are of less concern since i don't do any texture work. After some research, i ended up with a preliminary canidate, any thoughts? http://www.asus.de/Display/LCD_Monitors/PA248Q/ Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! agrasyuk Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 1920 x 1200 is the way to go :) my old 24" ultrasharp is still going strong. i'm very happy with that purchase. not followed dell products released still but i'd think they would be at least that good as they were Anton. My pit build thread . Simple and cheap UFC project
cichlidfan Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I would go for it if the price there is as good as it is here ($400 without looking hard) which is much better than the Dell I posted above. I may in the market for something like that soon as well. I will be keeping that in mind. Vlerkies Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 I took a LG IPS277L 27" home yesterday. My first IPS monitor. http://www.lg.com/za/monitors/lg-IPS277L-ips-monitor Only had a hour or 2 on it but I see noticeable ghosting when moving head left to right, visible on the cockpit frame. Maybe it just needs to be tweeked somehow, hope so. :( My old Samsung 2494 had none of this. mmtaraval Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 I just purchased a pa248q yesterday, there is some backlight bleeding at the bottom right and left edge, but that is only in a dark room with a black screen, other than that it is a nice upgrade from a 20" apple display. The 20" was still pretty decent, but I do notice that the image is crisper and colors are more vibrant on the asus. Image distortion is not visible even at wide viewing angles, the apple display was pretty good but the asus is much better. Response times seem better compared to the apple but I have not done actual testing other than my initial perception compared to the apple display. other sites have done in depth analysis on response times and the asus always comes away with high marks. I'm very happy with my puchase. i7-4790k stock 4.4 / gtx 980ti / 16gb ram / 256gb ssd (os) / 256gb ssd for apps / Acer XB27OHU 27" g-sync
acino Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 I suggest this: 27" 2560x1440 IPS LED for $380 http://www.ebay.com/itm/CROSSOVER-27Q-LED-High-Resolutio-n-2560x1440-QHD-DVI-D-Dual-S-IPS-27-Monitor-/110867210291?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item19d0336033 I bought it. Absolutely love it, zero dead/stuck pixels, very decent backlightning, very little bleeding.
Ratfink Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 Thanks for the suggestions. Due to budget constraints (speccing a new rig too to go with it) I've taken a gamble on a 23" Samsung S23B550V 1080p. I just tried it out, and for me it's fine. I would love to go with a nice 1920x1200 (or that 27" Apple thunderbolt!!) but I need to spend on the rig :) CORSAIR 5000D AIRFLOW Mid Tower | AMD RYZEN 7 9800X3D | G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo EXPO RGB 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 PC5-48000C30 6000MHz | ASUS ROG X870E-E GAMING WIFI | Gigabyte RTX5080 Gaming OC 16GB | 4TB Lexar NM790 M.2 PCIe 4.0 | Seasonic Prime TX-1000 1000W 80 Plus Titanium Modular Power Supply | Lian Li Galahad II Trinity AIO 360mm | Meta Quest Pro | TM HOTAS Warthog | Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals | Win 11 Home | Asus PG348Q 34" 3440x1440 Monitor | Bose Companion 3 2.1 Sound

sobek Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I just purchased a pa248q yesterday, there is some backlight bleeding at the bottom right and left edge, but that is only in a dark room with a black screen I guess that won't bother me to much, my current monitor has loads of bleeding and it never occurs to me unless when i consciously look for it. Thanks for your impression. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
