Ok, so I've noticed some issues with the occasional crashing and I've heard that steam isn't exactly friendly with the DCS series. And anytime I land and attempt to repair/refuel is when the game decides to throw a glitchy fit.

So since I bought it with steam, is there a way I can run this game outside of steam to ensure it's properly patched and reduce problems in performance? Or am I stuck within that single service?

Yes you can:

Download DCS: World and put all 4 files in the same directory then install.

Download DCS A-10C Module and install into DCS: World (the exe will do that for you). When you then run DCS World for the first time with the A-10C installed, a window will pop up asking for your key. Insert the one you got from Steam and you're OK.

The links provided are these to the latest version (1.2.2) so after they installed correctly, you are up to date also... :-)

Always the same about "Can I use the Steam Product Key with the independant new DCS World install?"

There should a sticky thread here or hint somewhere on the ED download page, it could spare some stress and time to those guys.. :D

Agree with Madone. Maybe a sticky that says "If you purchased the A-10C on Steam, ALL you need is the Key Code. DL everything from DCS and use your Steam Key Code as your DCS Key Code, just as if you had purchased it at DCS."

Agreed, that is a very often asked question and understandably so. I did myself some time ago. Once you have gone through the process and done it a time or two, it seems relatively simple , but to someone fairly new it is not.

It would be nice, to have a sticky especially now that DCS World is out of beta, how to download/install it along with the modules, and using the Steam key if that is what one has.

Just wanted to say thank you for the links and explanation on the matter.

I've just gotten into PC gaming as of late... so I suppose I'll be encountering issues like this from time to time.

Only way to learn sometimes is to ask Ruger... and there's always some very knowledgeable folks here that will help. Always try searches first, and if no luck... ask away! This is where I've been getting my education in DCS and the A-10 from! Great group!
