hey guys!

i just wondered if its possible to set the standard FOV manually?

right now i use the zoom in slow function to zoom in, and to zoom out i use the standard zoom function...

if its possible, then i would like to adjust the standard FOV manually...

my monitor just died, so right now i play on a 90cm TV, and besides that its totally immersive :), it feels as if at this big screen, the standard FOV is a bit too narrow,...everything looks like zoomed in....

of course i could just zoom out with Num/, but then i would play with a different FOV everytime, what i want to avoid...thx in advance!

I have the zoom function set on the slider of the a10 hotas next to the STFU button.

If I set my zoom to what I want to fly at, and then touch the slider on the hotas (up or down) just slightly it defaults back to a higher magnification.

Any ideas why?

The answer is very simple and obvious:

You have to decide if you want to set the FOV with the slider or the Keys.

The view zooms back just because the slider does exactly what you have told him to do.

Setting it independent by keys and axis won't work because the slider overwrites you FOV again once you tried to change it via the keyboard. - so you have to un-map the axis to have control via the keys.

So please have a look at post #2 again.

And here are several options how to use the Zoom/FOV

A)

To have a fast one-button zoom-in/out for target runs and recognition you can try to map something similar like this to your HOTAS:

Zoom-In/Zomm-Out on PAC1 to make your life easier !

B)

or just keep on using the slider but use a custom curve like this on it to have different steps:

Hi PeterP, thanks for taking the time, but maybe I understood the whole thing incorrectly from the beginning.

What I am trying to achieve is to change the default magnification on startup (or zoom level) when I get into the cockpit.

I find it is to zoomed in for my liking so I understood the quoted piece from the eagle wiki of FOV would do that.

I thought that if I changed the default fov to what I want, that would be the center position of the slider, but it doesnt appear to be so.

I dont use keypresses to zoom, I use the slider, but the center position of this is to magnified for my liking, I would like it to be wider (a bit zoomed out)

?

Vlerkies, I dont know why you dont use keypresses to zoom. Because you only have to adjust your zoom with / and * on the numpad and your problem is solved...

(Numpad Enter setting zoom to default...)

True, but then I take my hand off the stick. Its not a train smash, just thought I could configure it slightly differently.

It messes with TIR and the hud gets messed up as well.

No matter I just found a solution from this post

http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1080006&postcount=132

I don't use target, so assigned paddle on the stick to LShift with Joytokey, and now use LShift(Paddle)+Hat up/down to zoom.

Works great

It doesnt exactly mess with TIR. You will simply have to balance it out between the numpad zoom and the centering of TIR. I re-center my TIR like every 5 minutes or so, to keep it convenient to specific flight stages...

Yeah I also center the view often, however with the vew on the slider it seemed to mess up the hud a bit, so i could not see all the indicators, or very difficult to see and had to constantly move around a bit.

Having it mapped the way i have now is great though, just had a quick flight and its really user friendly, cant believe I had not done it sooner.

Thx

Hi Vlerkies

Just wondering if you actually need JoytoKey. Why not just go to Options/Controls and then choose Modifiers at the bottom left of the screen.

Have a look here:

Sorry if I've not understood you correctly, but I think this will be helpful to you. It'll enable you to use your paddle lever as a shift/modifier button. Save you from using the extra JoytoKey software.

i read the instructions from the link,....and i cant restore the default settings anymore...my problem is, that i dont have any file called DefaultSnapViews.lua

if i change the line usedefaultsnapviews= to true again, then i seem to have the default view, but as soon as i change it to false, im lost...now i somehow managed to have the the normal view about 80degrees to the left when i center trackir...

really confused now and would need help...

is there a way to get back to the status before i messed everything up??

the function repair dcs world doesnt seem to do the trick...

The default view files are in PeterP's Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck thread. Download the zip file in the first post and there's a folder with a 1.2.1 back up. I believe they work ok in 1.2.2.

After you have set

" UseDefaultSnapViews = false "

in the \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Config\View\View.lua

DCS Created a :

C:\Users\>Your User Name<\Saved Games\DCS\Config\View\SnapViews.lua

Delete this SnapViews.lua in your saved games folder and everything is be back to default.
