Ich666 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Get an used MS FFB2 off ebay and use it in conjunction with the throttle part of the X52 (at least thats what Im doing :))
KLR Rico Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 If you're really feeling froggy, you can put the x-52 handle on the MSFBB2. I did that and it's been pretty awesome. However, my ugly temporary test setup has kind of turned into my permanent solution. I was planning on covering it up with a boot/cover of some kind, but... meh. 1 i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS
Watari Posted January 23, 2013 Author Posted January 23, 2013 your crafting guys are awesome but i think i dont have the skill to manage this in one attempt :D i have ordered a logitech force 3d! i hope its running well :matrix: =SPEED IS LIFE=:matrix: http://www.planeandpilotmag.com/speed-is-life.html

Were you able to wire the two hats in, or is one non-functional? http://www.reddit.com/r/hoggit Hoggit 1st Fighter Wing Weekly training missions on Tuesday nights, missions on Saturdays! FlukyStrike Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I started with a logitech 3d pro but got very frustrated as it would not allow me to auto hover with force feedback enabled. It may have just been my stick but i tried everything from swapping axis to changing settings in the logitech driver software to no avail. I've now got a hotas warthog and its far superior (in my modest opinion and understanding that not everyone can splash the cash for one). BS2, A10c, TM Warthog Hotas, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, Acer Touchscreen with Helios, I5 2500k 4.4GHz, AMD 6950 flashed & oc'd to 6970.
lxsapper Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Were you able to wire the two hats in, or is one non-functional? His hats are not wired through the MSFF2 they are still working on the X52 electronics. The MSFF2 is using its Axis only.
KLR Rico Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 ^^ Exactly. i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS
Paradaz Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 A really stupid question here....but need to confirm:- The FFB2 is only using the axis as you say, so I presume that the stick section is obviously disconnected but the usb cable is still used in order to get the FFB through to the motors via DirectX? So your X52 electronics are exactly as there were, in effect they have just been removed from the X52 plastic case and also utilises the normal USB connection (or trying to remember off the top of my head if the usb comes off the throttle) so therefore you still have the mini-din (PS2) cable also connecting the X52 throttle/stick internals together? Thanks in advance.
PeterP Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 (edited) Have a look at this hardware-mod: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=83814 so you get a idea what is possible. The MSFFB2 only provides the movement. all primary buttons inputs are send by a different controller. (Thrustmaster Cougar in my case) I even added a hall-sensor mod afterwards to higher the axis precession. Edited February 2, 2013 by PeterP

Thanks in advance. Pretty much. The X52's handle was gutted and pretty much everything, (minus the axis sensors) were attached to the FFB2 base. On the FFB2 side of the house, the X/Y axis and control board remains, but no throttle or yaw axis. Technically, you could still reuse the axes that I simply discarded if you wanted to rig new levers onto them or something, but I didn't bother. So there are two sticks attached to the computer via USB. I put it all together as a hack/test to see if it was possible, and indeed it has worked very well. I was *supposed* to clean it up or enclose it into something nice looking, but I'm just too lazy. Haha. i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS
Paradaz Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Thanks for the help and links....some great work you've done there! I am really looking to do my mod with only 1 x FFB2 base and will probably go for a desk mounted stick as my centre-mount is now gone. I think the Warthog grip will be too heavy for this so will go with an X52 pro stick and mount the 3 x toggle buttons onto the FFB2 case.
KLR Rico Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I think there's more than enough free room inside the FFB2 case to fit the x52 guts. I didn't do it only because the wood platform mounts to my chair and I wanted to get it all as low as possible. Good luck! i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS
