Real Sound DCS A10

Recommended Posts

I haven't tried it but I was a bit concerned by this description

The Fan in the TF34GE100 has a good grinding sound at high RPM

I don't know much about turbine engines but I would imagine that 'grinding sounds' would be listed under the 'Not Good' column. ;)

I've tried it and it was good except for the "report" of the gun, you fire and hear the gun then when you stop firing you hear the trademark bbrrreerrrpppppp that people would hear on the ground due to distance from the firing aircraft.

You could replace just the gun sound file or you could use zzzspace sound mod which is the one I prefer.

Thank you for this mod. I've mixed and matched it with zzzpace's mod. I took out zzzspace's planewind.wav and planewindin.wav files and also the gun sound. Replaced them with the more realistic ones in this mod. Much better. I did remove the gun "repeat" sound though. That repeat sound sounds awesome when watching the gun fire from outside the plane, but its not realistic when hearing it from inside the cockpit! Wish there was a way of only hearing it when listening outside of the aircraft.

So thanks for pointing me in the direction of this mod and thank you to zzzspace for his mod too. Got the best of both mods now.

Regards,

Milli

Ohh I do like the sound of that GUN:thumbup: That is the most realistic gun sound I have heard yet. I am a little ignorant though, what is the problem with the internal sound ver the ext sound and why are some people disabling the gun sound? Hope I am making sense hear.

I am a fan of ZZZ sound mod but I am keen on Modifying like what you did, Could you explain to me how you did it? I have ZZZ mods 1-2.0 (2.0) being the modman ver. Thanks:helpsmilie:

Hi Chazz Ulric

The problem with the internal and external sound of the gun (in the Real Sound DCS A10 Mod) is that the gun sound includes that "repeater" sound at the end of the gun firing sequence. Its a sort of "echo" sound, hard to describe. Listen to the file GAU8End.wav. Thats the sound i'm talking about. It sounds fantastic when listening to it from outside the plane, its very realistic, but in real life, it would not be heard inside the cockpit. It would only be heard by someone standing some distance from the plane. Its a bit hard to describe. In the youtube demo it seems to have been taken out too.

Regards,

Milli

This is a bit complicated to explain. I shall try though.

First, I use JSGME Mod Enabler to manage my Mods.

I've created a folder called DCS A-10C Real sound COMBINED with ZZSpace.

I then copied the whole of zzspace's mod into this new folder.

I then went through the Real Sound Mod folder and chose which sounds I wanted to put into and replace in zzspaces mod. From memory I think it was the engine sounds, the wind noises (i.e the internal cockpit sounds) and of course the gun sound. I left out the repeater sound file (GAU8End.wav).

I put all the chosen files into the corresponding folders in my new folder containing zzspaces mod. Basically I mixed and matched the sounds I like.

I then simply enable the new mod using JSGME

Regards,

Milli

Check. The 1 I really wanted to deal with is the repeater file I did not know which 1 that was you have now I.D it for me. However in the you tube vid the repeater has been either removed for the vid. or it has been fixed....wondering out loud now.

Ok, I was a lil leary about putting any other sounds other then the Gun in at 1st but after backing up my files I went ahead and added the eng sounds and wind etc etc. I am really liking it. The 1 GLARING issue is the GAU8.wav end file is heard by the pilot and that blows the whole gau exp out of the water for me. The end sound itself is AWESOME! very realistic! But to hear it come back at you in the cockpit the way it does is no good. Please, USNAVALforces if you could fix that 1 issue this would be a VERY sweet sound mod indeed.
