spikenet Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I've finally got sick of the blobs and graphical issues and have a 680 on the way. I run a dual monitor setup with helios etc as per my sig youtube clip. What would be the best way to remove AMD drivers and install the nvidia? Also does anyone have any tips on setting up the 680, driver version is best, driver tweeks etc? Its been a couple of years away from nvidia and would like to get straight into some decent gaming framerates. thanks
pepin1234 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I have AMD 6790 and is wonderful graphic card and work stable with DCS. Which problem did you have with your 6970?? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Pteradon Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Yesterday i went from an 6950 2GB to an EVGA GeForce GTX 670 4GB Superclocked+ w/Backplate and did a quick testrun with DCS-A10. I got twice the fps now. I did use the uninstaller from AMD itself, reboot the computer and installed the latest Nvidia driver 314.07 , without any problems. http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us Asus ROG Crosshair X870E Hero | Ryzen 9 9950X3D | G.Skill DDR5 Trident Z5 64GB | Samsung 9100 PRO m2 4TB | ASUS Astral RTX 5090 LC | TM AVA | TM Viper TQS | TM TPR pedals | WinWing Super Taurus | WinWing TopGun MIP | TrackIR 5 | Windows 11

Which problem did you have with your 6970?? pretty much have had the white blobs for 6 months, and lately, getting flashing textures etc. The performance is average and always has been. Certainly cant turn up the detail, maybe my card is a lemon. I got twice the fps now. Rhinox Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 pretty much have had the white blobs for 6 months, and lately, getting flashing textures etc... Hm, seems that card was defective maybe. I have 6970 too (actually, 6950 re-flashed to 6970) and never seen any "white blobs", not even while overclocking...
JG14_Smil Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 You may get stutters with the 680 2G card if you are multi monitor.
Chaz Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I use Driver Sweeper between each new driver installation, in addition to the uninstaller that comes with the AMD uninstaller. It cleans out the residual files and is safe. 1) Run AMD uninstaller 2) Reboot 3) Run Driver Sweeper (AMD files) 4) Reboot 5) Install new drivers (or in your case, #4 should be turn off computer and install new videocard. Then fire it up and install Nvidia drivers.) YouTube | Kick | Twitch | My Gaming Rig

Is this an nvidia issue or just that running dual screen @ 1080p get close to 2gb vram? Has anyone got any numbers on vram vs screen res? Chaz, thanks, I have never done that. Might test it on my AMD before I replace it. cheers

spikenet Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 Thanks for all the tips guys. I finally got a chance to install it and run a few missions... wow! what a difference. Not only did the upgrade go seemless, usually there are issues, non with the nvidia, installed latest beta drivers. I cranked everything up to maximum running dual screens as usual and absolutely smooth as butter. It actually felt different flying it and the headtracking is silky! very happy, was worried I wouldn't see a huge difference but yeah, I did! :)
JG14_Smil Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 You won't have any trouble at all with 2 monitors (as you see) :) Trouble (stutter) started with three monitors spanning the main view for me. Enjoy your card!
