The poll would be 'would you like thrustmaster to release...' instead of 'will they release...' because we don't know their plans.

By the way, I voted yes because that would be a nice addition to the upcoming ED DCS F/A-18:P

Edit: concerning the throttle, there is just the antenna elevation rotary that could cause problem but I think I can stick with the Warthog Throttle quadrant (and after having seen the f/a-18 stick itself, the warthog one could fit without problem too)

Hi Guys,

I going to start a new thread for our custom stuff to discuss everything there. That way we can keep everything in one place and discuss what's the best option for people and see what the highest demand is for and ultimately produce what you guys want.

Cheers

Rich

One of the reasons I bought the HOTAS Cougar waay back when was the talk of additional grips, I thought it was a great idea that was wasted by Theustmaster. The Cougar had its issues but the Warthog seems like a good platform for them to build on. They may have changed their mind on add-on products now as they made an add-on F1 style wheel rim for their T500RS wheel which can be easily changed but maybe flight sims are more niche and its not viable?

Simple solution: recast some kind soul's Cougar ANT ELEV rotator, and drill a hole in the proper position in the outboard throttle. Mount a pot, put the copied rotator on, and integrate wiring to the pot to substitute it for THR_FC.

Done deal.

We are 99% ready for our own design Multi-Grip system. The custom grips for the Warthog aren't ready. We are still working on whether its even possible to do.

There is a circuit board inside the Warthog grip, if we can't reproduce this and get it talking to the main board in the base then we will have to design our own base unit. This then means its a totally new stick and defeats the object of custom grips for the Warthog.

Hi Richard,

The circuit board inside the Warthog is just 3 daisy chained shift registers (CD4021). They are common, well documented and easy to read data from, see my post at simhq.com on the pin output.

I would rather see them release a good Russian aircraft hotas.

HP G2 Reverb (Needs upgrading), Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate. set to OpenXR, but Open XR tool kit disabled.

DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), DLSS setting is quality at 1.0. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC... Everything needs upgrading in this system!.

Vaicom user and what a superb freebie it is! Virpil Mongoose T50M3 base & Mongoose CM2 Grip (not set for dead stick), Virpil TCS collective with counterbalance kit (woof woof). Virpil Apache Grip (OMG). MFG pedals with damper upgrade. Total controls Apache MPDs set to virtual Reality height. Simshaker Jet Pro vibration seat.. Uses data from DCS not sound... goodbye VRS.

The CB inside the Warthog/Cougar grip is a simple PCB with three of the shelf shift register soldered onto it. It should be fairly easy to replicate.

I've been tooling up and producing left hand versions of the Warthog grip. If no one has started making an F-18 conversion kit for the Warhog HOTAS by the time I get my 3d printer (SLA high resolution resin printer for prototyping, production parts cast in pigmented urethane plastic), I will -definitely- make this grip set. I would have already done this honestly, but was waiting to see whatever became of Hegy's project cause I'm not one to step on toes, but I think it's safe to declare that project dead.

I already had a good handle on working mold making and working with the relevant materials, but I've also spent a long time experimenting and refining techniques for working in the resin I'm using until I had consistent results I was going for and my grips essentially look factory made. Here's a few pics: WAX4pbS.jpg
