borba_eagle Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I would suggest the DCS group, if possible, create a way to automatically share on a mission the Skins, as in IL-2 for example. It is bad create new skins and we can't share in all missions we fly online. :( Maybe it's possible do this in a future update? Best Regards Borba 1
pepin1234 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I support this idea. One player bring his Skin, upload the skin to the server and then the server share the skin to the others players. One skin is pretty small and should be fast the process. This bring us some flexibility for our wishes [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EtherealN Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 One skin is pretty small and should be fast the process. I'll pick up a my little pony skin and see how happy people are with seeing that. :) The OP's thought of being able to include them in the mission itself, however, I like. But also, when you're saying "pretty small", I'm seeing about 10 to 20MB per skin over on UserFiles. Now imagine you've got 20 people on the server - 20*15=300MB. And it gets better since that's just the clientside; the server will have to send 19*15 to each of the 20 clients, making a total payload of 19*15*20=5,7gigabyte for the server to send. You able to do that on your home machine just to get the skins loaded on the mission? :) But if it's in the mission - but thus not in control of each individual client - this at least is something that the server operator will be in control of. Seems like it would be easier to implement through the mission anyways, as the skin is set there now as it is, just need the skin files to be pulled along like sound files and such... Agreed. Though disadvantage there might be that it would end up getting sent even when the client already has it. Well perhaps if or when we get dedicated server there could be a check to see if client has all needed files (skins, modules, sounds etc) ... but perhaps now I am just day dreaming :) Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
joey45 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Have a note on top of the mission brief. Example- Mission uses custom skins- skin name, A/C name - Artist* *UK camo, A10-C - Blackbeard Sea Camo, P51D - Blackbeard The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
