Crashmo Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 (edited) Mastiff, "I bet that's the hole for sling loads.. " My question, "What is that thing?" was rhetorical. I meant that I spent the day saying that to myself and then answering it by detective work. I'm the helicopter police--LOL. The "Hell Hole" for the sling load hook and gear is round and just forward of the aft skid crossmember. It sits directly beneath the main rotor mast for CG purposes. The "unknown" circled in red is part of the M-60 mount (as circled in red below). The "unknown" circled in green...I thought was the M-60 ammo box, but now I'm not 100% sure, and don't want to speculate. Thanks again for the diagram Crashmo. image hosting tynipic Todd, Your red circle doesn't seem to be anything related to weapons, but I don't know for sure. In the PS layer, it responds under the "occlusion: Gear" layer. So I guessed it had something to do with the skids. But I cannot find it. I cannot find anything related to the gun mounts on the template except the post that the M60 sits on. I believe the rest of the mount and weapons parts exist in the textures folder somewhere. I color the parts and then create .dds files from them. Then I load them into a livery and display them in Model Viewer. Then I get creative and move the camera everywhere. There are some things that are static only and do not show up in Model Viewer. Like the blades--they can have both static and dynamic files--one file for sitting still and another for motion. So I start up DCS and skin a Huey with that livery and fly and look some more. I thought one of the unknowns was the ammo feed shoots, but as you can see in the last screenshot, that is not the case. I am still looking for the texture file that has the aft VHF antennas on it. The "handles' on the lower tail. This is the inside of the engine cowl, looking aft. Model on, my friends, keep the info flowing. :pilotfly: PS. Skulleader, I am working on the Cal Fire skin, but got side tracked watching Youtube videos of those guys. Then I ended up watching how cops shot someone's dog. How do we digress like that every time we go to Youtube? Anyhow, notice the white tail... it is in motion. Edited July 17, 2013 by Crashmo

Andi31 Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 (edited) nice andy! I would take a try if you don't mind. "The modified WTD 61 HUEY with special Flight Test Equipment on the nose. Special scheme applied for the Missionsausrüstungsträger (MAT) by the company ESG." Ok, answered it myself. Yeah that would be great  Yep, almost all special liveries of the WTD61 are because of special equipment that is tested there or because of an anniversary ;) EDIT: but let me ask you some questions about the nose... if i can see correctly there is an bavarian flag with the earth in the background? I think it should be the blue bavarian sky with it clouds. Maybe because of this it looks like a satellite view of the earth. Edited July 17, 2013 by Andi31 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

c9smo Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Hi, I also have another "Luftrettung" UH-1. Looks Great!
311Gryphon Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Are we able to make the helmets different for pilot and copilot? I have not looked into it much because of time constraints but I only saw one helmet for the pilot in the .lua file and it seems that both of them are wearing the same helmet when I jump in the game. Just wondering if there is a way I can make them wear different helmets. Nice work yet again, everyone! http://www.youtube.com/user/311Gryphon i7-8700, 32 GB DDR4 3000, GTX 1080 TI 11GB, 240 GB SSD, 2TB HDD, Dual (sometimes Triple) monitor, TM Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Pro Combat Pedals, TrackIR [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Crashmo Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Helmets I did see a gunner helmet in the texture folder. It is the same as the pilot helmet. You would have to write it into the .lua description file. Or you could just make a change to the pilot helmet, name it something different, then write it into the .lua file. I just haven't done that yet. Maybe later. I will let you know how it goes.
upuaut Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 As long as the Pilot- and Copilot-Helmet are the same 3D-Model, it is not possible to make it different, just using a texture. Every 3D-Model uses specific texturenames(Materialnames). You would need a second helmetmodel for the Copilot. 311Gryphon Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I did see a gunner helmet in the texture folder. It is the same as the pilot helmet. You would have to write it into the .lua description file. Or you could just make a change to the pilot helmet, name it something different, then write it into the .lua file. I just haven't done that yet. Maybe later. I will let you know how it goes. I have two different textures for the helmets, but my issue is that the .lua only calls out one helmet for both pilot and copilot. If there is another model, or if I could just copy the pilot helmet model and name it something else, that would be ideal. But I'm not sure if you can just make a copy of the model and add that to your .lua file with the second texture. How would the game know where to place the model? So for now that section of a .lua file looks something like this: {"pilot_UH1", 0, "pilot_UH1_usmc", false}; {"pilot_UH1_helmet", 0, "pilot_UH1_helmet_usmc", false}; {"pilot_UH1_patch", 0, "test_pilot_Patch_full", false}; {"Gunner_UH1", 0, "gunner_uh1_usmc", false}; You can add the gunner helmet too to customize it but it goes on both gunner heads not on the pilot or copilot. The pilot_UH1_patch, as far as I can tell, has BOTH pilot and copilot patches detailed on it (2 shoulder patches that are the same on both, then the rank and name patches that are different). What I'm looking for is something like "copilot_UH1_helmet" and maybe even "copilot_UH1" so I can completely customize the two skins. There are 2 pilot skins but so far I haven't seen any .lua files calling for more than one pilot texture. Hopefully they'll have the helmets separated in an update at some point. I guess they may not have to if they think the helmets should always match but it would be fun to have fully customizable stuff. Thanks all. http://www.youtube.com/user/311Gryphon i7-8700, 32 GB DDR4 3000, GTX 1080 TI 11GB, 240 GB SSD, 2TB HDD, Dual (sometimes Triple) monitor, TM Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Pro Combat Pedals, TrackIR [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Now to skin the passenger back area use {"ab212_int_white", 0, name_of_file", false} For the front area, ie cockpit use. {"ab212_int_panel", 0, "name_of_file", false}; Obviously use the files uh1_panel_c_gray.bmp.dds or The other panel dds file as your template for the inside view. Even with his knowledge, I goofed around with the description.lua yesterday and could not get anything to change between the 2 pilots or the 2 gunners. Maybe it will be an option some day when they write the materials files as separate pilots and gunners.

marker Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Missed the part out where you have to keep the skinned uh1_int.tga.dds file in your working skn folder. The lines in the description.lua are basically calling those parts of that file it seems.. “Any pilot should be flying the spitfire, at least once.” – John S. Blyth

Right, I know that with the description.lua we have available and the various textures I've found it isn't possible. I was just hoping that someone had some obscure model or texture they had found in a zip file somewhere that we didn't know about that got defaulted when not defined in the description. Obviously if there isn't a model for a second helmet you have nothing to skin. I was just hoping. And yes I'am German....

Die Bundeswehr will ja etz auch die EC645 T2 an, damit die UH-1 bei den Spezialeinheiten abgelöst wird. Da bin ich ja mal gespannt.. ;) The Bundeswehr is going to buy the EC645 T2 to replace the UH-1 at their special forces. Lets see what the future brings.. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
