SkateZilla Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 HD7750 will be a Bottleneck. Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
flyboy993 Posted April 11, 2013 Author Posted April 11, 2013 HD7750 will be a Bottleneck. Is there an alternative that you recommend?? Maybe a 7850? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Some good old-fashioned red, white, and blue American Grade-A, top-choice beef sirloin, whoop-ass"
Mustang Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Yes the 7850 has 256bit memory bandwidth which makes for smoother FPS.
SkateZilla Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 7850 7870 or 7870 XT (7900 Series GPU). Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
Pyroflash Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Also, I would change the motherboard and CPU to Intel. AMD CPU's are inferior across the board. I would recommend an Intel I5-3570K CPU. It will run you only around $250, and is pretty top of the line (The real top of the Line procs are the Sandy E's, though you are looking at around a minimum of $700 for the proc/mobo combination) until the new Haswell procs come around. The motherboard is really entirely up to you. Without knowing what kind of performance you expect from it, I can only really suggest that it be a Z77 based motherboard. I also recommend ASUS or Intel as brand choices. That, with, as others have said, a slightly more powerful GPU, will have to pretty much set as far as smooth flying goes. If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
flyboy993 Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 Right, the only reason I have an AMD processor and mobo is because my budget is really tight and AMD chips are a ton cheaper. Personally I don't think there very much difference between the two brands other than the actually chip specs. I definitely will upgrade the GPU to a 7850. Thanks for all the help. Pyroflash Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 (edited) There is, in the performance processor market (i.e. the one you are in), Intel actually has more performance per dollar spent then AMD processors. Going with AMD, even if on a budget, is a bad decision. What you are buying is essentially three generations behind the current top of the line. What you end up seeing is performance that rivals only Intel's cheapity cheap cheap line of Ivy bridges, sometimes, even failing to surpass that. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/fx-4170-core-i3-3220-benchmarks,3314-7.html It isn't a terrible processor for general applications, but for DCS, trust me, you will appreciate what a higher end processor will give you. Even if you have to spend another $100 to get there. Edit: Something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116782 will get you a LONG way in this game. flyboy993 Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 Okay, here's my "overhauled" build. Take a look at it and let me know what you think. Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z77-DS3H CPU: Intel Core i5-3450 Ivy Bridge 3.1GHz (3.5GHz Turbo) Case: Rosewill LINE GLOW ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Hard Drive: SAMSUNG 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s GPU: Radeon HD 7850 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Power Supply: COOLMAX CU-600B 600W ATX 12V v2.2 Modular I chose the i5-3450 because it was cheap and had a lot of nice specs. I of course had to change my motherboard and I am happy with my new one. RAM didn't really change but the GPU is now a 7850 which is WAY better than a 7750. Let me know what you think... Any comment is appreciated. Thanks. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Some good old-fashioned red, white, and blue American Grade-A, top-choice beef sirloin, whoop-ass"

For $90, WD 500GB / 64MB Cache and 6Bb SATA http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236345 My budget for a hard drive is about $35-$50. I would like to get a better HDD, or even a decent SSD, but I am already over budget and don't need to add anything else to the price. And the hard drive is something that can easily be added on too. Thanks a lot though. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Some good old-fashioned red, white, and blue American Grade-A, top-choice beef sirloin, whoop-ass"
