LexiconG2 Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 (edited) For the future aircraft in DCS I am hoping they use realistic sounds. Seven-g f-18 is doing this if you watch a youtube video of how it is in real life in a f-18 you can hear the engines but they really are only loud when there is full AB. Mostly you hear the wind forces on the aircraft. We are very far from this in FC3. I also know it's about the same for the A-10C. Even less engine noise just that plan low pitch sound thats the same for all fighter aircraft sounds like a computer running. Still you really hear the wind forces in high g-turns even in a A-10. Only issue with seven g f-18 it seems like the GFX suck. SimHog Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Got a link for the YouTube videos? The problem I've seen with most recording methods is developers don't use a proper human set up to record sounds, they just stick a stereo mic near the source. I've always thought the proper way to record sounds would be to stick two mics inside a mannequin's head one each side to record L and R sounds. If you want to record the sounds of what a pilot hears then have the pilot wear the mics inside his helmet. Sure the sounds would be muffled but they'd be realistic. Mike Busutil Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 LMFAO!!!! Are you serious!!!! How are you supposed to hear any cockpit noise with a video like that? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Checkout my user files here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/user-is-Mike Busutil/apply/
SimFreak Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I have yet to hear any flight simulator to record sound realistically...because what people think realistic is not. Realism is boring and people think it's poor recording. Most pilots wear double hearing protection plus. The only thing you hear is avionics, radio, engine, airframe and sound of wind. Having microphone is cockpit is not same thing....

HiJack Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 That is a microphone in the cockpit and not your ear inside the helmet. But nice video.

Cali Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I couldn't hear the AB kick in or the air break open and close when I got a ride in a F-16. However and C-130 and B-52 are freaking loud, even with hearing protection. C-5, KC-10 and KC-135 are just fine, a little noise but nothing to bad. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED

SimHog Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 (edited) If I was going to record a jet engine sound I rekon I'd get away with recording my wife's vacuum cleaner behind my helmet ;) Edited April 23, 2013 by CoderX71 AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D @4.2Ghz | MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk | ADATA XPG 64GB 6000MHz CL30 DDR5 | Team Cardea A440 Pro M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD 2TB | Sapphire NITRO+ RX 7900 XTX Vapor-X| PIMAX Crystal Light
