choppervw Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I built my own collective, using a Joystick, removed x axis using a slotted plate so only the y axis worked. I removed the throttle and mounted it at 90 deg with a shaft (wooden dowl) thru a 20mm PVC Conduit and a 25mm PVC Conduit as my throttle handle. Worked pretty well on BS. I removed all the switches and mounted them in a PVC Box with new buttons too.
jay43 Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Some cool builds going on here, so the collective wanna build one from scratch where do I start I have many old joysticks do they have any parts that I can utilise. X52pro AV8TOR And the TM with the detachable throttle body i'm thinking this one just because its detachable or the x52pro. Or am I just best to buy new components and build from there. I also have the TMWH stick and throttle which I have no desire to strip although a machinist friend of mine is making me a stick exstension. If you want to convert your AV8R stick into a collective control with a minimum of work/modding... check out HitchHikingFlatlander's mod: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2711990/Re_A_Good_Joystick_to_Hack.html#Post2711990 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=40759 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] There's no place like 127.0.0.1
Peter_Pilot Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 I have posted images of my rig in other threads but this is the latest configuration with my new modified CH Fighterstick cyclic fitted, works great with the new Huey. Pete.
ruso Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I also built one, I suggest gutting QTE forget joy and passes directly to buy a controller, it's worth and it's not expensive. the buttons can search Ebai. Most difilcutad I had in finding the gear system to make it work the potentiometer. Peter_Pilot Can you explain how you did it, you have been really well.
Peter_Pilot Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Ruso, I made my own stick gimbal which has hall sensors for the pitch and roll axes connected to a BU0836X from leobodnar.com. The collective lever also has a hall sensor connected to the BU0836X. JG14_Smil Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Beautiful job on those gimbals Peter! I see black X's for your photos Stevos.
Stevos758 Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 There I think I fixed it. I need to build a taller heli cyclic when I finalize my parts. Facebook Ripp's Garage Tech LLC
Stevos758 Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 I have had some time to re-visit my extension design. I have made it much beefier. The only think I need to tackle is the thread starting position. When fully tightened down I have an undesirable offset. Can anyone else chime in that uses a similar design. How are you centering your stick with a one piece extension? https://www.dropbox.com/s/s4u6lob4ea9hks8/2013-07-16%2007.12.42.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/dmvytq1basxdy69/2013-07-16%2007.12.55.jpg Facebook Ripp's Garage Tech LLC
Stevos758 Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 Back from the dead! I have decided when I get my printer upgraded to design a cheap and effective cyclic for my first project. Design pics to come soon. Facebook Ripp's Garage Tech LLC
hannibal Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 5 months later, i never made the door gun. Belsimtek never made the multi crew multiplayer feature in their aircraft.. :/ find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
furball42 Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Stevos, Didi you get your centering problem fixed yet. I am a machinist, and can go through it step by step if you need. Furball42
Stevos758 Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 (edited) Negative, I've been busy with other things. I have been working on a collective recently. Just need to figure out how to program an arduino to read hall sensors. I have a leo bodnar waiting use but I wanted to keep the cost down on this project and possibly offer it to the public. After I get that working I want to work on throttle and custom heads for different choppers. Edited December 12, 2013 by Stevos758 Facebook Ripp's Garage Tech LLC

furball42 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 When you say it is not centered, do you mean the stick does not line up front to back? Or is it an electronics problem. I can help you with the first, the second....well I know electronics like bricks float. Let me know, I can go through the process of timing the extension, and any good machinist can do the modification for you. Furball42
Stevos758 Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 I meant overcoming the weight of an extension and having it re center the stick properly. I see VR pits is using 4 springs for their setup. Facebook Ripp's Garage Tech LLC
furball42 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Got ya. Well, if you (or anyone else) ever have a machining question, please feel free to PM me. Good luck with your cockpit build. Furball42
Stevos758 Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 Finishing up some extensions! Working on finding a way to bend the pipe to the shape i want. Facebook Ripp's Garage Tech LLC
hannibal Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 - THIS PHOTO HERE HELPED ME ALOT with my collective Design. (key word derlin collar clamp...) what i ended up building via this piece of part. find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
Stevos758 Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 That is an awesome setup. Working on a few more things before I can get back to the collective. Thanks for the advice! I was thinking of making a collar similar to that with my 3d printer. Facebook Ripp's Garage Tech LLC
