Since the new patch I seem to have more difficulty in shooting things down. Take the Aim 120 missile for example, in the last patch they seemed to have a good rate of kill for me, but now when I use them it just seems way different. I will see an explosion near to the aircraft I target as if I have hit it, but then it just carries on flying like it has never been hit. Seriously, is this how it is supposed to be now or is it just my game?

 

The other thing in the cannon I will hit the other aircraft and it seem to take damage. However, when I look back at the reply i see I am hitting it and it receives no damage?

 

Final question, but different subject. Can you use a medium range missile at close range? Like right behind an Aircraft. I ask this because I have been behind a target, locked him with the Aim 120, and he easily evades it ever time. So are medium range missiles named medium for that purpose? That you cannot use them at short range? If that is the case what is the minimum range you could use them up to? Thankyou!!

Indestructible aircraft will be fixed in the coming update.

 

Sorry to ask, but is this some type of joke? Are you telling me things are impossible to shoot down because of Indestructible aircraft? How long will that take to fix then?

Unfortunately yes, nature of these bugs they just slip in at last moment just as the update gets released and theres nothing that can be done, the update will make it all better.

Oh well, I suppose I can take comfort from the fact it's not me been a really bad fighter pilot. Hell, I don't think captain Kirk, on the StarShip Enterprise could tackle them babies if they are truly indestructible.

Any chance on answering this before it's fix still? Can you use a medium range missile at close range? Like right behind an Aircraft. I ask this because I have been behind a target, locked him with the Aim 120, and he easily evades it ever time. So are medium range missiles named medium for that purpose? That you cannot use them at short range? If that is the case what is the minimum range you could use them up to? Thankyou!!

I am no expert on missiles, but I am pretty sure there is a recommend minimum range of 2 km on say the AMRAAM, I would think withing that it isnt as effective.... if that makes sense.

Thanks, but this leads me to one last question. When would flood mode be better to use then Vert mode? Would flood be better suited to an Aim7 missile if that's even possible?

Flood mode is to be used with the AIM7.

 

It is very useful for WVR combat as the aircraft you are shooting at will not get a lock or launch warning, he will only know that you are painting him with your radar. Very handy!

 

You can only use Flood mode when the bandit is within 10nm.

 

It's well worth reading the section in the manual about these radar modes, doing so will save your aircraft when flying online... knowledge is power!

Oh gawd, GG is gonna come throw stuff at me :) I believe it would be better to use flood at closer range. In fact I believe that is preferred, but I could be wrong.

FLOOD if your shot parameters are all clear; VSM/Auto if there is any question as to someone getting into the way.

 

The AIM-7M (in fact, from the AIM-7E on) were very capable dogfight weapons from 4500' on. The 90's F-15C RTU companion guide to the 3-series manuals quite clearly discusses the use of the Sparrow in lag pursuit, which conceptually allows the missile to complete its initial acceleration and control surface unlock, and making its first turn, all with the room to do so.

 

Essentially, if you hit the BREAK X on AIM-9P working a proper attack, you would relax the G, hold the guy in a comfortable lag pursuit near the top of your HUD, and select MRM. In a matter of seconds if your left hand's business is in the correct setting to deny overshoot, and your right hand is holding the guy in real lag, you'll get a SHOOT cue momentarily, with parameters the Sparrow *can* make.

 

And the AIM-120A and B are just as good of short range weapons as the AIM-7M.

Also indestructible ship shud be fixed.Afther taking 4xkh 25ML,2xS25l and 2xKH 29T Ticonderoga was still a live and ready to fire AAA and missiles.

Also check compas and ILS.If you fly at 0 degrese,bottom line does not show 180.This kind of deviation is lethal if thrying to land in sutuation of heavy fog and almost 0 visibility.

FLOOD mode in real life is initiated when the radar drops lock or is unable to transfer to HPRF+.

 

The only time that flood comes in useful in FC is when your bandit decides to notch and drop your lock, in which case you need to be able to know where he is, either visually or by correctly guessing. Chances are that your missile is NOT being notched and FLOOD will still illuminate the target.

 

If you can use STT, there's no reason to use FLOOD. If you can't use STT and your bandit's position is known (visually or otherwise) and is inside 10nm, use FLOOD.

 

I'll stress again that in such cases FLOOD should come on automatically in real life (it does not in game), and for it to work you must keep the bandit inside the FLOOD reference circle in your HuD.

 

Have you had enough stuff thrown at you? :D

Your chances of taking down a Tico with a single 25T should be pretty close to zero. ;)

To answer your original concern, hit points for vehicles are being looked at. Obviously things hit by other things should take damage.

 

What I was trying to say is that none of your missiles should have been able to reach a Tico (in fact, you should have not been able to get close enough to launch them to begin with). A Su-25T alone is not enough, you would need multiple aircraft.

 

Is it a new kind of simulation? Missile can hit the target, but they can not destroy it, depending on the platform that launched the missile?

Thing is, the Kh-58's launch override range is greater than the willingness of the Patriot, S-300 and Standard to attack. Even if it takes a salvo of 8 or so to score any hits on even a lone Tico.

 

It would be nice if ARM hits to ships would disable their radar, though.

That's because the Kh-58 doesn't have a realistically modeled rocket motor.

Could you be more detailed? The in-game text and internet says that it can be fired from 100km at high altitudes, and that's what I do.
