apollomaker Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Howdy All ----- Noticed on the latest rev version of the A-10C that came out with the 1.2.4 release, that the engine heat blooms are present at all times, even when these are turned off globally. These look really nice BUT they do consume video processing resources and it is nice to be able to cut them off when mission resource requirements are real heavy. Am I missing a way to cut them off optionally??? Any help here appreciated. Hamblue Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 It's been reported elsewhere. Will probably have to wait for the next patch but keep your eye out. Sometimes people have solutions that can be done by modifying the .lua files. Asus Sabertooth P67 Motherboard 2600k CPU, 16 gig DDR3, 1600. apollomaker Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 Thanks Hamblue ---- appreciate the feedback. Figured it would get picked up and eventually patched. Not a biggie but every little bit of video power helps when you need it ;) Cheers --- Bob :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sim Box: Asus Maximus, Intel 4790 CPU @ 4.2 GHz, 16GB RAM, GTX-790 + 5GB VRAM, Win7-64, 1 KW supply
Darkwolf187 Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I noticed they were on, and was wondering what was going on. Definitely would like to shut them off - I'm critically short on vram as it is so want anything spurious that I'm not going to see much off.
NhiTrac Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I haven't been able to check FPS as I use an apple keyboard on my pc, but does it really have that much of a hit on resources? Ps any other way of binding the FPS counter to another key as I don't have "print screen". Darkwolf187 Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Like I said, my problem is vram, not gpu performance. I have a GTX690, but I play in 7680x1440 triple-head. As such, I'm already skirting really close to vram limits, and anything that causes the vram to fill causes a SERIOUS plummet in performance while textures are swapped. Unfortunately, these performance plummets usually tend to happen while very close to the ground. When riding that close to vram limits, anything at all that I can shut off which I don't deem "necessary" can have a big boost to the smoothness of the experience. Hence why I turned off heat bloom. Note though - overall performance in 1.2.4 seems much better than in previous versions.

Skull Hello Don't worry about your English, its much better than my and others French :) Unfortunately I don't have a mod for the heat bloom issue. My note was just pointing out that someone with better knowledge might post a mod. Chances are that the associated lua file isn't changing to reflect the menu selection.
