OGREMAN Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 (edited) The DCSW v1.2.4 update has had some disturbing effects on the flight dynamics modeling for the Mustang. I have noticed a SEVERE dumbing down of the stick sensitivity and flight dynamic responses..... its so dumbed down now that it feels like a 1970s penny arcade game compared to the P51 that I have come to know and love. The aircraft now feels like it is mounted on rails ..... can anyone see the same thing? because if this is how it will be I may come to regret this "so called upgrade" by DCS. Foul Ole Ron Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Did you use auto-update or do a fresh install? I know it sounds obvious but did the easy flight settings accidentally get switched on? I've been flying 1.2.4 and haven't noticed the kind of change you're talking about.

Thanks for your response, Checked all settings and they are as usual, Flight setting is set to "SIM" max realisim no rudder assist no takeoff assist. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

OGREMAN Posted May 4, 2013 Author Posted May 4, 2013 Just did some testing and I don't notice a difference I have to say.. Thnx TinTin, What seems to have changed is that when trimmed out at steady speed I can now take hands off and the AC flies on as if on rails, I can go hands off without the slightest tendancy of the AC to wander from flight path. The same is true to a proportionally lesser extent even in an untrimmed state ..... it almost feels like there is a autopilot in use. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

For some reason I don't see the same behaviour.. It still likes to wander. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
OGREMAN Posted May 4, 2013 Author Posted May 4, 2013 Hi Evil Bivol, Thnx for the input, but with all due respect, I have heard this before so many times with the DCS series updates/patches .... all I know is that flight responses have definately altered and "trust me" with the hours I put in on this sim I am not mistaken. I suppose the question I need an answer to is why... I am now resetting and testing my stick profile and in game axis profile to try and recover that original sensitivity and responsiveness. Pman Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I fly it alot and havent noticed any change since 1.2.4 came out

msalama Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Huh  That's weird, because my AC fly and feel exactly the same. Something wrong with your controller profiles maybe? The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 (edited) Well, OGREMAN, your observations are CORRECT!!! But!... (read-on if you care to...) I haven' noticed anything changing after I installed 1.2.4, but I confess I've been flying the Bell most of the time (well... crashing the Bell would certainly be a more honest way of putting things...) It came to my mind that OGREMAN you're probably experiencing the very same sensation I felt when returning from a flight in the Bell to my still beloved p51d. The twitchiness of the Bell compared to a prop aircraft, even a p51d, in a simulator (and possibly, I'll never know in this life, in RL too...), will probably make you feel now that the p51d is way too stable, just as I felt regarding all of my other simulator experiences when I fell in love for DCS World :-) It is actually a sensation I have had all across 1.2.3 and previous releases when gaining more and more experience with the p51d. Maneuvers that would make me flip on my back and crash, impossible takeoffs with tail winds and my fuse tank filled, etc... all turned into "piece-of-cake" situations when I gained hand of it. OGREMAN, honestly your observations are excellent because they reveal something we very difficultly can feel in many other simulation platforms - how special DCS World and it's aircraft add-ons is in replicating RL flight dynamics and being so immersive! Think about it ;-) Enjoy - THE BEST FLIGHT SIMULATION PLATFORM EVER DESIGNED FOR A PERSONAL COMPUTER :-)!!!
