Mt5_Roie Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 So I have a Saitek X65-F for my A-10C pit and love it. But the throttle is a little stiff to be used as a collective. Plus I'm using my other machine for heli flying. Right now I'm using a logitech extreme 3d pro, and it's not that good. It twiches all over the place making stable flying a little hard. So I'd like to hear some suggestions for sub 200 dollar control systems. I'm currently looking at the X52 or X52 Pro. But would love to hear what people are using and how they like it with the Huey. outlawal2 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Using the X52 PRO with rudder pedals and can recommend them for Huey but you will want to perform the detent removal for the collective as it gets in the way right when you need the fine precision most! The detent has killed me many times and I just performed the removal about 30 minutes ago and it helps a LOT >>>http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.ph...565#post880565 1 "Pride is a poor substitute for intelligence." Not perfect but a lot better tah with the x52 :matrix: =SPEED IS LIFE=:matrix: http://www.planeandpilotmag.com/speed-is-life.html

Whats the reason behind that? Edited May 7, 2013 by roiegat update Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
Watari Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 maybe you have to adjust the curve +/-5 to your needs. The DZ on throttle i set because i found myself sometimes in a oscilation of up and down. the vortex is a killer in the huey so need to be gentle. the take off is bit tricky but the hover easier because of the curve and dz. its easier to hold a sink rate. i also think thats an nice setting for throttle: :matrix: =SPEED IS LIFE=:matrix: http://www.planeandpilotmag.com/speed-is-life.html
Mt5_Roie Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 Nice. Was flying you suggestion and hover is a lot smoother. Although straight flight I find I need to push the joystick more to do some of the manuevers I like (I tend to bank her like a A-10C). But landings are a little easier with these settings. I'll keep testing. Thanks for saving me some money Watari! Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
Mt5_Roie Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 Here's a video with hover with new settings. Seems a little better. The hover stuff was done with the new settings, the rest of the video was from flights yesterday. Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
Vita_CZ Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 as for Cyclic Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback 2 or G940 Stick, because of the force trim simulation. Hello SchniX, Would you mind to tell me, how to operate force trim properly? Having MS SW FF II, when I press and hold the force trim, forces disappear completely, but once I release it, I get a big kick to cyclic and have to fight it all the way down (I usually hurry up for landing then). Thanks Vita

Your welcome! its not only a lack of skill to keep to huey stable, i just think the right equipment would cost 3000€ :D :matrix: =SPEED IS LIFE=:matrix: http://www.planeandpilotmag.com/speed-is-life.html
Mt5_Roie Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 Well there is still a bit of an issue of when I pull the stick back and left it twiches like crazy. So it might need some cleaning. But seeing how cheap they are, I might get another one as a backup. Although the sidewinder looks kinda cool too. Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
Zentaos Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I use 2 Thrustmaster T16000M's. They have the same Hall sensor setup as the warthog controls I think. they are very sensitive and accurate and can be found for $50 or less. I took the springs out and roughed the ball mechanism slightly. They move easily but stay where i leave them. 1 for collective, 1 for cyclic. and I use CH pedals,
