My PC started complaining about CPU temp whilst idle, and I have come to the conclusion it must be a dead pump on the Corsair H60 cooler.

The fan on the rad is OK, but I cannot really tell if the pump is working. Bios has the fan speed for the pump as "N/A", while Asus AI Suite II says "0 rpm".

I moved it from the Chassis Fan 3 connector to the one labelled "CPU_OPT" and it made no difference - Asus AI shows 0 rpm, and CPU temp rapidly rising.

I also felt the pipes, both cold. Should one be slightly warm if all's working well?

Had the rig for about 3 months. Have requested an RMA from the OEM anyway, I'm pretty sure it's dead but would be interested to know if there's any other checks I can do.

How much have the temperatures been exactly and what program is complaining? Have you tried listening to the pump real close?

It had shut itself down the first time, and Asus AI Suite II Monitor kicks up a warning at 70 deg.

I powered up and went straight to monitor, and it goes from 50 to 70 in just a few minutes with no other apps running.

I tried listening for a pump sound, but could only hear fans.

I got the same cooler, you cant hear the pump. if it has stopped you got no way to tell, except try to seat the cooler onto the CPU again and pray the temps are normal.

I got the H70. There's no way to know if the pump works. But even if it doesn't work the temps shouldn't go above 90C.

get Corsair Link to monitor the pump, you cant see pump specs unless you have the corsair link interface.

EDit: Corsair Link hardware only works with H80/H100, my mistake,

Not sure how to read Pump RPM on the lower Models.

Open case, remove H60 Water Block,

Remove CPU, Put in a tray or somewhere where it wont get damaged,

Unplug HDDs Power (to avoid Spooling them up repeatedly for no reason).

Unplug Optical Driver Power (same as Above.

remove unit from case, but leave main power connected,

power on the system (with no CPU present it will supply power to fans and 5v Molex/HDD Lines.

hold pump to you ear and listen for water whoosing and pump whirring.

RMA replacement arrived today - slightly different looking than the last H60 (this one's more square) but it's in and working.

So will back in the DCS sky after I've eaten my dinner :)

System up and running for about an hour, the Asus Suite alerts the Motherboard temp is 127 deg!! Last time I looked it was about 30. CPU temp at this point 32 deg.

Can I assume bogus reading? As the alert is set to 60 deg, it triggered at 127. Rebooted and mobo at 30 deg

Seems that maybe as I had CPUID running, this may have caused bogus reading in Asus Suite II - read elsewhere this can happen, and Asus Suite is buggy - can anyone verify?

Have a check if you have the latest Bios update. Maybe it needs an update. If u already have the latest one then it's possible something is conflicting???

I reckon it was a conflict with CPUID I had running at same time. Since I rebooted, with just Asus monitor on it ran for 2.5 hrs fine. I managed 1 hr of A-10C instant action, board temp never went over 35 degC

Rat read a lotta complaints about the H Series coolers from Corsair, Pump failures. I chose a Zalman LQ-310 for this reason.

Suggest you ditch this cooler. Sorry Corsair and Rat. We all get burned like this from time to time.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy and I've had both.
